Show Training Session Held for Manila "Smoke Eaters" Tiie annual trnininr." s inn for the , 'Manila Smoke Enters" was held last Friday evening and Saturday, Sat-urday, according to Fo! :st Ra'tg-er Ra'tg-er Wallace M. Saling. who tlsre-ll -the school. On' Friday evening a session was held, in t ho Agriculture Io:ri of the Pleasant Grove High School. At this meeting" Ranger Saling gave an illustrated lecture on "Safety and Fire Behavior," after which a film entitled "Shovels Pulaskis and Men" was shown. Nyal Wadley, forest guard, who was in charge of the local group, spoke briefly on Safety. Forty-four members attended the school under the leadership of Straw Bosses Keith Warniek, Stan Ekins, John Swenson and J. H. Harvey. Several "Young Fanners" from the North-Utah County organization or-ganization also were present. The group spent several hours Saturday afternoon in actual training on the ground, after which a "feed" was furnished by the Forest Service at the South Fork Ranger Station. "The boys were enthusiastic about the work and did a fine job," Mr. Saling concluded. |
