Show Freedom Crusade Urgently Needs "Truth Dollars" A home front battle against Communism is being waged in Utah and throughout America this week as the 1955 Campaign of the Crusade for Freedom got under way with an urgent appeal for "Truth Dollars" to support Radio Free Europe. Finale of the campaign on Feb. 22, birthday of the nation's first president, will be a dramatic "sky drop" of Freedom Scrolls and other oth-er Crusade for Freedom literature over Salt Lake City, Ogden, Logan Lo-gan and Provo. This project is under un-der joint sponsorship of the American Amer-ican Legion and the Civil Air Patrol Pa-trol to focus people's attention on the urgency of this year's Crusade for "Truth Dollars." A spectacular launching of Freedom Balloons from the steps of the State Capitol in Salt Lake City on Feb. 14th signalled the opening of the drive in Utah which seeks the support of 100,000 Utah citizens again this year. Hal R. Harmon, State Crusade Chairman who recently returned from an inspection tour of Radio Free Europe facilities in Western Germany, speaking as an eye witness wit-ness to this vitally important cold war activity, told Utah residents that there is no more direct and effective way to fight Communism than by sending a "Truth Dollar" or more to the Crusade for Freedom, Free-dom, care of your local postmaster. Funds raised support the powerful power-ful Radio Free Europe network of 29 transmitters, broadcasting messages of truth, hope and encouragement en-couragement to 70,000,000 people behind the Iron Curtain in Czechoslovakia, Czecho-slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania Ro-mania and Bulgaria, keeping alive their spirit of resistance to Communism Com-munism and their hope for liberation. liber-ation. "Radio Free Europe is keeping keep-ing the Communist off balance in these satellite countries and helping help-ing to avert another war," Mr. Harmon said. The Freedom Balloon Bal-loon operation in Europe is a companion com-panion activity to Radio Free Europe Eur-ope whereby printed leaflets are transmitted to captive peoples. Send your contributions to your local campaign committee or simply sim-ply mail it to Crusade for Freedom, Free-dom, care of Postmaster. Dr. and Mrs Darrell Jensen are co-chairmen of the drive in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. |
