Candalot, installer, make some checks on the dial system in Pleasant Grove. Installation will be complete April 19, and will be put in operation at midnight on May 3 for Pleasant Grove area. Hew Pea! System in P.G. Almost Heady Completion of the installation of new dial telephone equipment in the recently constructed telephone building in Pleasant Grove is scheduled for April 19. Before being be-ing placed in service the new equipment will undergo exhaustive tests to assure trouble-free operation. opera-tion. Ralph Ryan, local manager for the Telephone Company, said it has taken up to 20 telephone technicians tech-nicians 31:! months to install the intricate equipment. Beginning at mid-night May 3, the new dial equipment will be placed in service. At that time many service improvements will be provided telephone customers in Pleasant Grove. Approximately 700 users will enjoy a better class of service. Many now being served on multi-party lines will have individual in-dividual line service, others who formerly w ere served on four party par-ty lines will be provided with two-party two-party service. The number of customers on rural lines will be reduced to a maximum of eight. At the' present pres-ent time there are up to ten families fam-ilies being served on some rural lines. Ringing signals on rural lines will also be improved. With the new rural sen-ice customers will hear only their own ring and that of one. other family. To place a long distance mil or obtain the time of day we will dial "O" for operator and will be immediately connected with the Provo telephone Operators. Telephones in Pleasant Grove will continue to be repaired by repairmen from American Fork. The method of reaching Lehi and American Fork telephone numbers will be changed with the activation of the new equipment. To call Lehi customers dial 68 and give the operator the desired number. Calls to American Fork may be completed by dialing 56 and telling the operntoi- the number num-ber wanted. For information on American Fork and Lehi numbers not listed in the directory. Pleasant Grove customers will dial the designated numbers to reach those communities commun-ities and ask for information. |
