Show Local Lions Attend Banquet Monday In Salt Lake City Pleasant Grove Lions and ladies la-dies attending the annual midwinter mid-winter banquet held in Salt Lake City Monday were President and Mrs. O. M. Shoemaker, Zone Chairman George Jaynes, Miss Vickie Jaynes, Mr. and Mrs. E. Dean Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Maron Oveson, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Monson, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woolston, and S. A. Kirk. More than two thousand Utah Lions and distinguished visitors attended, making this the largest attended annual winter meeting in the United States. Outstanding features of the program were the address of welcome wel-come by Governor George D. Clyde, musical numbers by the famous Ogden Boys Chorus and Trumpet Choir and the address of the honored guest and national leader of Lions International, John (Jack) Stickley. Mr. Stickley told of the great missiorr"of good fellowship now played by more than six hundred thousand organized Lions thru-out thru-out the free world. He paid tribute tri-bute to Utah and its people. He said that the Mormon Choir and spiritual leadership of President David O. McKay and the Mormon Church stood unchallenged in our country. |
