Show Track, Tennis Baseball Next On Viking Sports Agenda As Basketball Season Ends ail, Richard Peterson, Sonny Jim Thornton, Jay Newman, and Hal Lewis. Other boys currently working out include: Robert Walker, Kay Richins, Lowell Smith, Terry Hol-man, Hol-man, Gene Ash, Lew Deveraux, Paul Polenski, Tom Atkinson, Rial Allen, Tom Black, Jim Dankleff, Paul Allen, Tracy Bronson, Wil-liard Wil-liard Lanier, Paul Gillman, Eldon Armitstead, Jim Nelson, LeRoy Chiistensen, Alton Hone, Larry Huntsman, Boyd McAfee, Dennis -Ch' i niak, Benny Hullinger, and Lawrence Kockerhans. With the basketball togs in the moth balls until next November, the Vikings are turning their attention at-tention to the three major spring sports, tennis, baseball and track. The weather being what it has been lately, little has been done in the first two of these activities; but in track, Coach Ned Alger has at least had the boys out and warming up on the few sunny afternoons. Track prospects seem better than average at the Battle Creek Camp, since the coach will have seven holdover letter-men from last year's squad. They are, Kenny Merrill, Jack Wadley, Grant Leon- hen asked what prospects were for this year Coach Alger said: "we should be strong in the sprints, 4-10 and 880 plus one good relay team. We are weak in the jumps and weights, with the possible exception of the javelin. The pole vault could hp fairly good." Following is the scheduled track meets to date, subject of course to weather conditions and other un-forseen un-forseen difficulties: March 29 Jordan, P.G. and Lehi at Jordan. April 6 Letii at Payson. April 15 Snow College Invitational Invita-tional at Ephraim. April 22 Brig-ham Young Invitational Invit-ational at Provo. May 4 Region III met at BYU stadium. |
