Reaches retirement Ray Frampton Retires from Barber Shop Ray Frampton, familiar figure in Pleasant Grove's business section, sec-tion, retired Monday after 44 years as a practicing barber in this city. Mr. Frampton began his barber career as an apprentice in the shop of Josiah Kemp in the shop now occupied by Lee Swenson. He later moved to the building where Dr. T. M. Thomson's office of-fice is now. From there he moved to the basement of the old bank building. He has served in his present location for the past number num-ber of years. Mr. Frampton was born in Pleasant Grove, the son of William Will-iam R. and Catherine Beck Frampton, early residents of this locality. He attended the looal elementary elemen-tary school and the first year of the Pleasant Grove High School. This school was housed in the Presbyterian Church, located where the Second-Fourth Ward Chapel now stands. He was a membe r of the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove fire department for 37 years, retiring in 1955. For several sever-al years he served as secretary-treasurer secretary-treasurer of the department. In 1911, Mr. Frampton married mar-ried the former Margaret Matthews Matth-ews and the couple are the parents par-ents of seven living sons and daughters: Mrs. Elwood (Mildred) (Mil-dred) Allen, Jesse, Nile, Gene, Calvin, Blain and Mrs. Lorin (Lois) Powell. All live in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, except Lois, who resides re-sides in California. Mr. Frampton has always been interested in the civic and church affairs of this community and has served as chairman of the Adult Aaronic Priesthood committee of the Fourth ward. |
