Utahns Slated to Enjoy See Cream With Cherries in Feb. June is still some months away, but people in the Pleasant Grove area will join Utahns generally in eating a lot of cherries during the month of February. In fact, Utahns will be eating tons of cherries, bur- ied in the creamy goodness of thousands of gallons of Utah ioe cream. February has been designated as Ice Cream Festival Month in Utah and the state's ice cream makers are featuring ice cream and cherries cher-ries in commemoration. Richard H. (Dick) Romney, general gen-eral chairman of the American Dairy Association of Utah committee commit-tee in charge, estimates that more than 12,500 pounds of cherries will be eaten with ice cream by Utahns during January and February. "That figures about 2,350,000 cherries," cher-ries," Mr. Romney said. "And many of these are good, plump Utah-grown Utah-grown cherries." Studies show that Utah's people are eating nearly four times as much ice cream a year as they did in 1940, and twice as much as they did ten years ago. |
