Show P. G. Defense Set-Up Is Making Very Fine Progress Definite patterns have been set in the wardens divisions and the auxiliary fire department of Pleasant Grove's civilian defense effort, according to Harold S. Walker, coordinator. Meeting Saturday night in the city hall wardens of the six districts dist-ricts set the pattern of their own areas. At the present time, Mr. Walker said, they are preparing maps of their districts. "Other information which the district wardens will gather is how many families have telephones, tele-phones, radios, and televisions; whether people can take care of themselves; food and clothing; and transportation and other forms of communications," Mr. Walker said. Monday evening in the city hall approximately 4o men met under the direction of Fire Chief Richard Rich-ard Allred and Josiah Kemp, to receive instructions in the techniques techni-ques of auxiliary fire fighting. Under Chief Allred the group was organized with'a" chie'f of the auxiliary aux-iliary in each of the six districts. An interesting speculation was the use of approximately 20 fruit sprays in the area to be fixed in such a manner that they can serve as mobile fire fighting units. The sprays have high pressure pumps and Chief Allred stated that there was no reason to believe that the sprays cannot serve as excellent fire fighting units. ' Mr. Walker also recommended that families in the city have several sev-eral loads of sand in their yards to douse fragmentary fires. He also recommended that families living on farms should have sand and a barrel of water ready at all times in case an emergency arose without warning. The fire department, he said, is now set up to train fire wardens war-dens in their duties in case of wide-spread fires. Mr. Walker stated that definite progress has been made toward |
