Show Older Folks Have A Joyous Day v Provided For Them A full day of joyous entertainment entertain-ment was arranged for the elderly people of Timpanogos Stake on Saturday, February 10. No detail was overlooked by the committee in their effort to make the day a success. The affair began at 10:30 a. m. with a very worthwhile show at the Grove Theatre, compliments of Keith Miller, manager of the Grove. From there the guests were whisked in cars to the First ward L. D. S. chapel, where the sumpt-ous sumpt-ous dinner in the recreational hall was served at 12:30. The long tables were gayly decorated in a patriotic theme, in which Saint Valentine was also featured. While the desert was being served Owen Whitehead and Ellis Holdaway entertained with vocal numbers. The very well prepared program in the ward chapel was conducted by Master of Ceremonies Ernest Morgan. Community singing was directed by Oliver Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Mary Neves. Lewis E. Olpin of the Timpanogos Timpan-ogos Stake Presidency gave the welcome address. Neils Fugal also expressed appreciation ap-preciation for the elderly people and paid tribute to them for the community which they helped and are helping to build. Mrs. Laura Timpson of American Ameri-can Fork, gave an original humorous hum-orous skit, tribute? to those present, pre-sent, and Stanford Ekins accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Neves rendered vocal numbers. Later the Hill-billies, Pappy, Grand-pap, Ezzie and Zeke, created creat-ed ten minutes of hilarious laughter. Next followed readings by Geo. Paul, and Eddie Oscarson, and a vocal solo "Darling I Am Growing Grow-ing Old," by Annie Loader Koffel, 91 years of age, and who also waltzed gayly with younger partners par-tners at the dance that followed. Prizes were awarded to the oldest old-est man present, George Shoell, 91; the oldest lady, Annie Loader Koffel 91; and the longest married couple Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Hooley, Hool-ey, married 64 years. Benediction was pronounced by J. L. Adams. Later dancing was enjoyed in the recreation hall. At the close of festivities guests were safely returned to their homes.
