Show "Tfte Bonfeers Sfory" Sponsored By Local Bank Advertisement "The Banker's Story" a series of advertisements which are being sponsored in The Review by the Bank of Pleasant Grove, is one of the most unique cartoon forms of telling the history of banking that has ever come before the public. According to Junius A. West, vice president and cashier of the local bank, money dates from the dimest dates of recorded history, down to the present time without a break, and the value of thrift has been a constant record. In Biblical times, Mr. West relates, re-lates, the use of money had already al-ready replaced the barter of more primitive eras. With the introduction introdu-ction of money a convenient means of transacting business and commerce was at hand. The series, which will run for a year in The Review, follows the history of banking from Babylonian Babylon-ian times down through the golds-smith golds-smith of London, the time of Columbus, Col-umbus, American colonial banking, bank-ing, Wells Fargo, and ends with today's highly efficient financial institutions. "We believe that in presenting this series students will gain a first hand knowledge and appreciation appreci-ation of banking and its place in the economic, cultural, and sociological sociol-ogical structure of all civilizations," civilizat-ions," Mr. West said. |
