Show REDS COMPLAIN Upright Man In Bod Shape MOSCOW. The government newspaper Izvestia complained today to-day against a Soviet biologist who held that man started on the downward down-ward path when he began to walk on his two legs. This scientist, the paper said, Is "an igrroramus." The biologist, Izvestia said, really was a former pro-Czarist officer who had managed to worm his way into Soviet science circles. S. D. Antipin, chief of the department de-partment of biology at the Kishinev Kish-inev medical institute, was the challenged scientist. Izvestia said he had advanced this theory: Man's greatest tragedy occurred oc-curred when he ceased to walk on all fours and cut himself off from the animal world by assuming assum-ing and erect position. If man had continued to walk horizontally, and rabbits had learned to walk vertically, ver-tically, many of the world's ills would not exist. Attacks Scientist Boris Lavrenev, Izvestia writer, scrutinized Antipin's career, and said he is a former soldier in Admiral Kolchak's White Guards, fought the Red army and then, when Kolchak was defeated, managed man-aged to pass himself off as a "biologist." Lavrenev said Antipin taught at various medical and veterinarian veterinar-ian institutions until he landed his job as a department head at Kishinev. Kish-inev. Citing some choice Antipinisms, Lavrenev quoted, "Every four-legged four-legged animal excells man. Since man raised his head up, he lost his sense of smell and by using artificial meat grinders instead of his own teeth he has weakened his chewing equipment." Because of man's vertical position posi-tion his internal organs are piled one atop another like the floors of a building, Antipin held, and his lungs are not properly venti-, lated, hence he is subject to tu-, berculosis. "As the descendant of a four-legged four-legged animal, man is constructed on the horizontal principle and thus, by becoming vertical, he is as curious as a steam engine, rolling roll-ing along on its back wheels," Antipin Anti-pin was quoted. Dislikes Mouth Lavrenev said Antipin was especially es-pecially displeased with the human mouth and fulminated against women's lips. "No wonder many women paint their lips as if to say see I'm human, not a monkey," Antipin said. Lavrenev said Antipin's magnum mag-num opus was entitled, "Rebuilding "Rebuild-ing human organism on a horizontal hori-zontal principle, on the harmful-ness harmful-ness of walking on the hind legs, and placing rabbits in a vertical position so as to lengthen their furs." Lavrenev described Antipin as "an ordinary adventurer, crook, and ignoramus, slavishly addicted to idiotic Morganistic (Morgan is one of the leaders of the discredited discred-ited Mendelian genetics school) ravings, having nothing in common com-mon with science." |
