Show Funeral Services For Wilford Neves Conducted Wed. Funeral rites for Wilford T. Neves, 62, -were conducted Wednesday Wed-nesday in the Third ward LDS chapel at 1 o'clock. With Bishop Neil Y. Fugal in charge, the impressive im-pressive service opened with a mixed quartette singing "O My Father". They were Lahoma Lind-eman, Lind-eman, Elaine Smith, Doyle Egan and Aries Steiner, all of Layton, with A. R. Overlade accompanist. Invocation was offered by Elvin Thorne. First speaker was E. Ray Brown an early friend and neighbor of the Neves family, who paid high tribute to Mr. Neves and his people for their thrift and honesty, and gave assurance of the life to come. Joseph H. Walker, a close neighbor neigh-bor and former bishop of the Third ward expressed sympathy and appreciation ap-preciation for the family and L. M. Atwood of the Timpanogos stake high council was the concluding speaker. Musical numbers interspersing the speakers -were a trio "Hold Thou My Hand" sung by Mrs. Leone Told, Mrs. Ida May Christ-ianson Christ-ianson and Miss Alene Rasmussen, accompanied by Miss Jennie Glea-son; Glea-son; and a vocal solo by Warren Kirk accompanied by Mrs. Kirk. After closing remarks by Bishop Fugal the mixed quartette sang the closing number, "Sometime We'll Understand", and William Lim offered the invocation. Prelude and postlude music was played by a string trio, Mrs. L, A. Clark, Mrs. Warren Kirk and Miss Anne Clark. Internment was made in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery where J. C. Hilton offered the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were all members of the high priests " quorum, Neils Fugal, C. R. Clark, Elvin Thorne, B. H. Adams, William Lim and J. C. Hilton. The high priests of Timpanogos stake attended in a body. Mr.Neves was born January 14, 1886 in Millville, a son of William and Abigail Shaffer Neves. The family moved to the Big Horn Basin Bas-in in Wyoming when he was eight years old. He attended schools in Burlington and Lovell, Wyoming. He was married to Mary E. Carl-ing, Carl-ing, September 3, 1914 in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1915 they moved to Pleasant Grove from Wyoming. For four years Mr. Neves served as Pleasant Grove watermaster. He was custodian at the Pleasant Grove high school at the time of his death. Mr. Neves filled a mission in the East Central States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was on the stake high council while residing in Burlington Burling-ton and served as a counselor in Pleasant Grove Third ward bishopric bishop-ric for some time. At the time of his death he was secretary of Timpanogos Tim-panogos Stake high priests' quorum. quor-um. Survivors include his widow; five daughters and a son, Mrs. Erna Allen, Clearfield; Mrs. Elda Steiner, Layton; Mrs. LaVerle Makin, and Mrs. Donna Randall, Pleasant Grove; Wilford Leslie Neves, a student at the Brigham Young University; Mrs. Mary Ad-amson, Ad-amson, American Fork, 14 grandchildren; grand-children; three brothers and a sister, sis-ter, William Neves, Meeteetse, Wyoming, Chester Neves, Burlington; Burling-ton; Ernest Neves, Millville, and Mrs. Alice Dobson, Los Angeles. |
