Show Books Discussed At Meeting Of Mothers Club Members of the Mothers' Club enjoyed an extraordinary treat on Thursday, September 26th, when Miss Abbie Mells, as guest speaker, gave an interesting and informative talk on recommended recommen-ded books of today. She came upon up-on invitation of the club to give suggestions and offer guidance in the organizaton of a reading circle within the club. Mrs. Wesley Jense was hostess, host-ess, and Mrs. Grant Y. Anderson Ander-son had charge of arranging the program. Earlier in the afternoon, af-ternoon, Mrs. Leland Clark, club president, entertained Miss Wells at luncheon-, after which she was taken to see Geneva Steel plant and other points of interest. Miss Wells is recognized as one of Utah's outstanding authorities auth-orities on books, having been I employed for eighteen years at Deseret Book Co. where she acts as consultant and advisor to librarians lib-rarians in the choice of books With fluency and ease, Miss Wells in a charming and fascinating fascin-ating manner, gave brief reviews revie-ws of the 50 books she brought with her, pointing out highlights in plot, setting characterization "nil literary style. Under her direction members made their selection of books. A splendid variety of hooks were obtained. A definite exchange scliedule has been arranged, --o every member of each circle will have the opportunity of reading a different book every two or three- weeks. It has long been the practice of the Mothers' Culb to give a contribution of books or money to our public library. This year at . the termination of the years reading schedule, these books will be given to the library. At the conclusion of the delightful de-lightful afternoon, a delicious tray luncheon was served' by the hostess, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Webb and Mts. Sarah West. On behalf of the club, Mrs. Earl A. Beck presented Miss We.'ls with a token of appreciation.
