Jle I.s the .son of Mrs. Clara Doyle and husband of Jtowena Chap-man Chap-man Doyle. Also glad to welcome wel-come him home were 1 1 i.s children, chil-dren, Uo.sa Lee and Gary Steven. Murine Doyle will report hack for duty March 22. Mrs. L. Eugene Harris (Mlckle Tuttle) has received a letter from her husband who is somewhere some-where In England saying he hus been advanced to the rank of Captain. Captain Harris is with the communications office of heavy bombardment. The entire group has been awarded a citation cita-tion for valorous action by the commanding general. The captain cap-tain also reports a very pleasant leave in Scotland where he was the recipient of exceptional hospitality. hos-pitality. Pvt. Robert L. Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Walker, reported re-ported at Glendale, Cal., for duty Tuesday after a furlough. Bob is with a fighter squadron at the Grand Air Terminal. During his furlough his brother, William Walker, wife and baby at Twin Falls, Idaho, visited here. Sunday Sun-day Mr. and Mrs. Leo Roberts of Salt Lake City also spent the clay with the Walker family. Mrs. Pauline McIIugh, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Hun-sakcr Hun-sakcr of Richland Acres, has left for Cam) White, Oregon, where she will take her basic training In the army nurse corps. Mrs. McIIugh lias been working in the local hospital since coming to American Fork. Mr. and Mrs. Hunsaker came here from Steubenville, Ohio. They have two sons and a son- j in-law already in the service. Flight Officer Miles Hunsaker Jr. is in the medical corp in Tuscon, Ariz., and Pfc. Boone Hunsaker is in the general hospital at Billingsly, Ind. The son-in-law, Staff Sgt. Joseph Merrill Mc-Hugh, Mc-Hugh, husband of Mrs. McHugh, has been overseas with the army air corps for the past 18 months. Mr. Hunsaker is one of the engineers at Geneva Steel. Gerold Devey S 2c, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Devey left Tuesday to report for duty at San Francisco after spending ten days with relatives in Alpine. Seaman Devey entered enter-ed the navy April 26, 1943 and since that time has been around the world. Mr. and Mrs'. Ray Howes were home from Tuesday until Sunday of last week. Mr. Howes is an instructor in flying at Thunder-bird Thunder-bird Field near Phoenix, Arizona. They visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Howes and Mr. and Mrs. John H. Miller. Staff Sergeant Ray L. Whitby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Whitby of Alpine, is home on a fifteen days furlough from Laredo, Texas. Sgt. Whitby was a German Ger-man prisoner of war during several weeks of the early fall and was returned home after escaping. Mr. and Mrs. John Dickerson of Pocatello, Idaho, were in town last week for a short visit with their son, Leo, before he left for military duty. Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Dickerson, Randie Dicker-son Dicker-son and Mrs. Willis Fredericks visited in Spanish Fork with a nephew, Ray Young, who has enlisted in the navy. The enlisted en-listed man is the son of Mrs. Stella Cloward. . Mrs. J. H. Gordon left Saturday Satur-day for Long Beach, Calif., where she. will visit for a month with her sons, Dean and Arthur and their families. Mr. and Mrs. William Chipman returned last week from a three weeks buying trip to Los Angeles. While there they visited with relatives and friends in Long Beach. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Holden, former American Fork residents, for the I lovely church wedding and re-I re-I ception given for their daughter I Barbara. A. S. Harold Ellison left Tuesday Tues-day after spending an emergency emergen-cy ten days furlough at home due to illness of his wife. Mrs. Ellison (Helen Winder) und;r-went und;r-went an appendectomy at the Lehi hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lund and daughter Arlene spent Sunday with Mrs. Lund's mother, Mrs. Fred W. Wright. Mrs. Orval S. Brown and John Singleton returned to Gandy yesterday after spending five days visiting with relatives in American Fork. Mr. and Mrs. Don Clyde of ! Heber visited Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas S. Friday. Miss Althea Ferguson was a week end guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elvernon Ferguson. |
