Show Newell C. Wright I Newell C. Wright, a son of j Clarence C. and Grace Newell Wright, was born December 4,1 1921 at Lindon, Utah. He was inducted into the army March 3, 1941. He left Pleasant Gro-e, March 17, a Private with j the Utah National Guard, Service I Battery, 2nd Bn. 222nd F. A. He was sent to Camp San Luis Obispo, California. He was later transferred from the Service Battery Bat-tery to an anti-aircraft battery. He was promoted to a First Class Private while in San Luis Obispo, Cal. The organization remained in San Luis Obispo until the early part of December, 1941, when they were moved to Angel Island, off the coast of San Francisco. He spent the next three months in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Ventura, California. His outfit was no longer a part of the 222nd Field Artilery, it now being desiggnated as a tank destroyer company. The latter part of April, they wore moved to Fort Lewis, Washington. Wash-ington. While stationed at Fort Lewis, he was married to Thelda Gillies on .Tune II, 1912, in Tacoma, Washington. H- remained in Washington until un-til August, 1912, whe he was transferred tran-sferred to San Fancisco, where he remained until the 1st of Sept- ember, when he and his company were sent overseas. He has been promoted to the rnnk of Corporal since being sent overseas. |
