H S. basketball team will play the Payson Lions Friday-evening, Friday-evening, December Eleventh, on the Viking's floor. Immediately following follow-ing the game the Pleasant Grove High School will hold Its annual Band Dance. General admission to the game is 30c. Admission to the dance is 50c per couple and 15c extra ladies. V JUNIOR HIGH ASSEMBLY A Junior High Assembly held Thursday featured the Junior High Yell leader tryouts. The teams trying out were: Mary Jane Green, Dorothy Ann Nelson and Rae Louder; Earline Loader, Elva Bun-nel, Bun-nel, Elaine Loader; and Donna Mae Marrott and George Dalton. V ASSEMBLY FRIDAY The high school band will present pre-sent the assembly program Friday, several band numbers & advertisement advertise-ment for the annual Band Dance will comprise the program. . V KNOW AMERICA'S WAR EFFORT t Wednesday, December 9, Mr. Fisher showed to the students of th high school two good films portraying por-traying Japan's strength and rules to follow in case of air raids. It pointed out some of the things that we have learned from England's experience that we should exercise m our home defense. V PATRIOTIC ASSEMBLY December 7, one year after the outbreak of war in the Pacific Ocean was rrecognized by the student stu-dent body in an assembly and flag ceremony Monday. Mr. Smith offered, of-fered, the invocation and Mr. Banks spoke i MISSIONARY TALKS TO SEMINARY CLASSES Gordon Wright who recently returned re-turned from the Eastern States Mission spent Tuesday talking to Mr. Smith's Seminary classes. Students Stu-dents taking Seminary enjoyed a very interesting and educational period. Mr. Wright told of the wonderful pageant held at the Hill Cummorah each year. He also gave an inter- esting discussion on the importance import-ance of out testimnoies of the gospel. Mr Wright was a graduate of the Pleasant Grove High School in '39. FIRST QUARTER ENDS The first quarter of the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove High School ended Friday, Fri-day, December 4. Grades will be out sometime next week. Due to the many absences because of the harvest the grades will be somewhat lowr this quarter than the last quarter of last year. Those who have been absent, however because be-cause of this reason and cannot make up their work will be given a passing grade. In 'some classes, though, the work will have to be made up in order for the students to carry on in their studies. There have not been many school activities activit-ies but with a bright outlook for the next quarter the students are looking forward to an enjoyable time. |
