Show This Proves There's No Perfect Crime' NEW CASTLE, DEL.As New Castle's night police force consists of only one patrolman, two burglars thought they had figured out the perfect crime. They broke into a grocery store directly across the street from the state police station, where they could watch Patrolman Francis J. Hewlett sitting at his well-lighted desk. However, Hewlett spied the burglars bur-glars and telephoned the state police po-lice barracks five miles away. "Two men just broke into Piatt's grocery, right across the street," he said. "They can see me, so if I make a move they'll scram." Ten minutes later the burglars, still watching Hewlett, were startled when state policemen pounced on them. |
