Show Pleasant Grove Locals A surprise party in honor of her husband's fifty-fifth birthday was given Tuesday evening by Mrs. Wil-ford Wil-ford Neves at the family home. The following neighbors and friends enjoyed en-joyed the luncheon and games: Bishop and Mrs. Joseph S. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carlson, Mr. and Mrs- Ren Benson, Mrs. Matilda Christiansen, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Christiansen, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Hilton, Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Atwood, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Fugal, Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Christiansen, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Lim; Mr. and Mrs- Jens Fugal, Mrs. Lorena Niel-son, Niel-son, Mrs. Leone Told, Mrs. Ethel Carlson and" Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Johnson. Mrs. Pearl West has been staying stay-ing with her daughter, Mrs. Reed Thompson of American Fork since Friday of last week when the three-day-old son of the latter died. j - Mrs. Harold Bullock Entertained at dinner Sunday for her brother, Erral Robbins and family of Cottonwood, Cot-tonwood, and her father,: William J. Robbins of Lindon. Mrs. Ole Christiansen was a guest of her sister, Mrs- Jennie' Chadwick, of American Fork on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Warnick and Mr. and Mrs. Men-ill Warnick were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Howard How-ard Warnick Thursday evening. Mr. Homer Royle took his small daughters Nadine, Kathleen and Jeanette to Salt Lake City Wednesday Wednes-day evening to see their mother, who is in the L. D. S. hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Noble (Alta Clark) announce the birth of a daughter, Thursday morning, January Jan-uary 9 at the American Fork hospital. Mrs. Sherwin Johnson left Saturday Satur-day night for Glendale, California, where she will join her husband who is employed at the Lockheed aircraft factory. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Johnson were guests at the dinner party given by Mrs. John E. Hayes of Provo, in honor of the sixty-first birthday of her husband, Sunday afternoon. Richard Adamson of Salt Lake spent last week-end with his grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Christiansen. Christian-sen. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bronson of Midway, visited at ine home of Mr. and Mrs. Mons Monson, Sunday afternoon. Word was received by relatives at Manila Monday morning of the serious ser-ious illness of Mrs. C. L. Warnick of Fort Shaw, Montana. She is in the hospital at Great Falls, suffering from a stroke. Her daughter Ange-lyn Ange-lyn and son Ralph, of Salt Lake left immediately for Montana. Mrs. H. E. Bradley entertained the Contract Bridge club of which .she is a member, Friday evening at her home. First and second prizes were won by Mrs. Milo Bean and Mrs. Ralph Hedquist. An attractive luncheon was served. Favors were New Year babies fashioned of gum-drops gum-drops and marshmallows. Guests were Mrs. J. W. Prince, Mrs. G. T: Braun, Mrs. M. D. Jones, all of Provo, and Mrs. Clyde Clark, Mrs. Ralph Hedquist, Mrs. Keith Thomas and Mrs. Milo Bean of American Fork. Friends of Dorothy Ann Nelson entertained at a surprise party in honor of her 13th birthday Friday night at the home of her parents. Favors were chocolate candy hearts with a smaller pink heart on top holding a candle. After an evening of games, refreshments were served. The hosts were Ruth Beck, Maurine Esklund, Doris x-eay, Eloise Richards, Mary Green, Maurine Walker, Carol Dawn Warnick, Donna May Marrott and Gwen Lee. Mrs- Inez Olpin is in Ephraim staying with her daughter, Mrs. Alonzo Hanson, who is ill. President and Mrs. W. W. Warnick War-nick had as their dinner guests on Sunday, Elder S. O- Bennion of the first council of seventy;- M. S. Christiansen and Harold M. Wright of the stake presidency and their wives. Rose buds as centerpieces, and favors made of gay napkins arranged ar-ranged as bouquets in tiny crystal vases, added to. the attractiveness of the luncheon served by Mrs. Phyllis Keetch to members of the Modernette club who met at her home Wednesday afternoon of last week. Monte Carlo Whist was played, the traveling prize being won by Mrs. Clesta Beal, guest prize by Mrs. Ruth Gamett, and first and second prize by Mrs. June Chorniak and Mrs. Mary Jacobs. In addition to the above mentioned guests, those present were Mrs. Thelma Swenson, Mrs. Louise Heid-enreich Heid-enreich and Mi's. June Walker, special guests, and Mrs. Orpha Beers, Mrs. June Clark, Mrs. Alta Noble, Mrs. Violet Beers, Mrs- Ruth Farr, Mrs. Afton Walker, Mrs. Virginia Vir-ginia Chipman, Mrs. Dora Hales and Mrs. Mildred Hardman. Mr. and Mrs- H. W. Clark left Monday morning for a ten-day vacation va-cation to be spent in California. En route they will visit Mrs. Clark's sister, 'Mrs. Lewis Anderson of Monroe. Mon-roe. They will stop at Los Angeles. At Pomona they will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs- B. L. Allen (Ethel Clark) and at San Jose will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Leon S. Taylor (Eva Clark) and will renew acquaintance ac-quaintance with many old friends made during their missionary labors la-bors in San Jose several years ago. Mrs. Phyllis Keetch, Mrs. Pearl Wadley. Mrs. Oral Wright and Mrs. Merle Coombs were guests at a surprise party given in honor o' Mrs. Jennie Johnson by her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs- Gertrude Westrope of Provo, Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs- G. E. Oscarson announce an-nounce the marriage of their daughter daugh-ter Elizabeth to Kenneth McClure, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. McClure of Soldier Summit. The ceremony took place January 9. Mr- and Mrs. Howard Warnick and Mr. and Mrs. Loren West were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Walker of Lindon Friday of last week. |
