Show Funeral Services Held For Pauline Hoffman Impressive funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Timpanogos stake tabernacle for Mrs. Pauline Hoffman who died in the American Fork hospital Friday, Fri-day, June 12. The services were under the direction di-rection of the first ward bishopric with Bishop J. A. West in charge. The opening number was a vocal duet, "Sister Thou Wast Mild and Lovely," sung by Mrs. Alta Walker and Mrs. Berniece Christensen accompanied by Irwin Jensen, and the invocation was asked by President Presi-dent W. W. Warnick. First speaker, Mrs. Elija Man-gum, Man-gum, told of her years of friendship friend-ship with Mrs. Hoffman and read several poems illustrating the sweet and noble life of the departed.. de-parted.. Gottleib Buhler, a neighbor neigh-bor paid tribute to Mrs. Hoffman who was the mother of 12 children, and cited many faith promoting incidents. Thomas King, former president of the Garfield stake, now of Provo, told of his acquaintance with Mr. and Mis. Hoi'fm'ani and their family and counselled the family to cling to the faith of their narents. President C. E. Rowan of the Provo stake, also a former president presi-dent of the Garfield stake, had known the Hoffman family in the Widtsoe ward and told of Mrs. Hoffman's unwavering faith in the gospel. Closing remarks were made by Bishop West, who voiced appreciation apprecia-tion or the family as members of the first ward. Musical numbers interspersing the speakres were an organ solo, "The Old Refrain" by Howard Pax-man, Pax-man, a violin solo, "Going Home," by Irwin Jensen, accompanied by Miss Lyravene Jensen, and the closing number, a vocal duet, "Teach My Soul to Pray," by Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Christensen, accompanied ac-companied by Mr. Jensen. The benediction was pronounced by Albert Anderson and the dedicatory dedi-catory in the Pleasant Grove city cemetery was offered by Ezra F. Walker. Pallbearers were grandsons grand-sons of the deceased. Pauline Feyl Hoffman was borr June 13, 1863 in Worttemburg, Germany, to George and Rosina Holdworth Feyl and came to America Amer-ica when she was 17 years of age. On April 2, 1882 she married Wm. L. Hoffman and came to Utah to make their home. In 1900 they moved to Montana, where they spent seevarl years, coming to Pleasant Grove some years ago. She was the mother of 12 children, chil-dren, eight of whom with her husband hus-band are left to mourn her depar-turfe. depar-turfe. They are: Mrs. Fred Deck-ert, Deck-ert, Helena, Montana; Wm. Hoffman, Hoff-man, Stephensivlle, Montana; Mrs. R. L. Hunter, Yakima, Wash.; Chris C. Hoffman, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Fred Nelson, Salina, Utah; Ray R. Hoffman, Draper; Mrs. Roy Foutin and Fred H. Hoffman, of Pleasant Grove. There are 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. |
