Show Lindon Makes Sensational Rally To Challenge Third Ward Lead In Local Softball Competition j The highlights of the past week's play have been the sensational rise of Lindon up into second place, only on-ly half a game behind the Third ward, whose winning streak of six in a row, was climaxed Monday night when they defaulted to the Second ward. Lindon moved into second place by virtue of their win over the C C C camp. The local camp team ran up two tallies in the first inning in-ning and three in the fifth, from four walks and four hits. Lindon scored most heavily in the first when they garnered six runs on five hits and two walks. They scored two runs in the second and 'four in the third to complete their scoring. Leland Baxter pitched an outstanding outstand-ing game, being very effective in the pinches, allowing only four hits while his team-mates collected nine from two O C C pitchers. This win places Lindon just one-half a game behind the Third ward. The Third registered their first loss of the season Monday, when they forfeited a game due to an insuficient number of players. This loss gives the Second their first win thus far in the league play. Third place is occupied by the Triple C camp, followed by the First ward and Manila, who continued its winning ways toy two wins in the past week. Windsor holds down the sixth berth, with the Second ward still in the cellar. The team standings represent the games played up to and including Monday, July 1. Team Standings W. L. Pet.
