Show Pleasant Grove Wins State sols hall Ilerth The Geneva Steelers annexed the Utah County softball title last night with a sparkling 2-1 win over ov-er the American Fork Cavemen in the final game of the county tourney, tour-ney, and won the right to enter the state tournament. The American Fork crew, by virtue of playing in the state soft-ball soft-ball league, already has a spot in the tourney assured, while Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove won a third state meet berth by beating Provo 8-3 in the consolation finals. In the other game played on the final night of the county meet, Springville came through with an 11-3 victory over Lehi in a game to decide fourth and sixth places in the tourney. Gunderson on the mound for the Steelers and Hansen, chucker for American Fork, hooked up in a (tight mound duel that produced the best game of the meet in the finals. The first two nights of the annual an-nual county meet were held Thursday Thurs-day and Friday of last week but the finals, slated for Saturday, were rained out and were re-scheduled for last night. |
