Show Lindon Community Fair Scheduled For August 30th American Legion Elects Officers Robert L. Shelby of Ogden was elected Department Commander of the American Legion Sunday mor ning at the final session of a three day convention held in Salt Lake City. Mr. Shelby, a pharmacists mate in the recent war, was elected elect-ed from Junior Vice Commander of the Utah department to the position pos-ition of commander on the first ballot. Elected first vice commander was P. K. Hayes, Richmond, World War I veteran. Dick Isbell, Richfield Rich-field was elected junior vice commander. com-mander. He is a World War II veteran. Top position in the Utah Department Depart-ment that of national executive committeeman, went to Francis ) The Lindon Community Fair will be held on Saturday, August 30, according to a decision made recently rec-ently by the Lind6n Town Board, sponsors of the annual entertainment. entertain-ment. Kenneth Gillman, has been appointed general chairman, with Mrs. Ruth Lovell, as chairman of the woman's division. A full days' entertainment is being be-ing scheduled, and a general invitation in-vitation is extended to the people of Lindon to enter exhibits in the various divisions, which will include in-clude every phase of community life, such as Women's handiwork, canned products, flowers, garden corps ,farm crops, livestock, etc. It is anticipated that the junior livestock division will be exceptionally except-ionally large as a number of the young boys and girls of Lindon are very much interested in the growing of a high grade livestock. The entertainment committee are planning on an afternoon of sports, which will be highlighted by horsepulling events. A detailed program for the day will be published next week in the Pleasant Grove Review. Springer, Salt Lake City. Mr. Springer has been actively associated assoc-iated with the Legion since his discharge two years ago. Glen Bal-linger, Bal-linger, Helper, was named alternate altern-ate national executive committeeman; committee-man; Henry E. Ogaard, Salt Lake City, was reelected department executive ex-ecutive committeeman. Legionairres attending from Pleasant Grove included Karl Banks, William Hinton and Rom-ell Rom-ell Ash. |
