Show City Wins Honors At 24th Parade American Fork was awarded outstanding out-standing honors July 24th when the float entered in the Pioneer Days rarade in Salt Lake City by A. W. Pulley and Sons was awarded second sec-ond place in the float division. First place honors were given to a covered wagon train from Draper. The Z. C. M. I. float depicting "Utah the Star of the West" was awarded third place. A miniature covered wagon drawn by oxen in gold, silver and bronz are the awards for first, second and third places respectively. Winners, in the various divisions were to be given a prize also The Pulley float advertising; "American Fork as a Turkey Center" was beautiful in white, shell 'and silver. Miss Mary Pulley, dressed in silver was the central figure with, four small girls in egg shell halves on each corner. The small girls were Joyce Shelton. Marilyn Pulley,. Lucille Pulley and Shirley Martin. Hanging from the main platform of the float were strings of sea shells against a background of silver. The appearance of the entire float was most outstanding, and advertized advertiz-ed the city in an excellent manner. man-ner. The American Pork Poultry day float was also seen in the Pioneer Days parade. Miss Mary Walton was the central figure on tins float, standing beneath a large celephone plume and against an egg tipped pointed background. An ensigma, written in eggs on the side of the float telling of Poultry -Turkey day classed it as one of the outstanding advertising floats. Both floats will be seen in he local celebration parade. |
