Show FORMER RESIDENT DIES AT PROVO Mary A. Ward, 87, widow of E. J. Ward anc an early pioneer family of Pleasant Grove, died at her home in Provo Sunday of old age and general debility. She was born on March 14, 1848, in Blackburn, England, the daughter of James and Jane Williams Backus. She came to Utah in 1861 first set-tlinor set-tlinor in Pleasant Grove where she was mairied February 12, 1865, to Mr. Ward. They lived in Pleasant Grove until 1880 when they moved to Provo. She is survived by four sons, Will-ard Will-ard B. Ward, Salt Lake City; Charles E., Joseph O., and J. Frank Ward, all of Provo; five daughters, Mrs. W. O. Ramshaw, Salt Lake; Mrs. Alice Fleming, Ogden; Mrs. T. H. Heal, Mrs. Will Frsby and Mrs. Sam Clark, all of Provo. Thirty-eight grandchildren grand-children and thirty-four greatgrandchildren greatgrand-children also survive. Mrs. May Clark, wife of the late H. L. Clark, was a daughter of Mrs. Ward. Funeral services for Mrs. Ward were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Sixth ward chapel in Provo. o |
