American Legion Sponsors Musical Comedy An entertainment attraction which gives promise of being one of Utah county's highlights for 1939, is the world premier performance of "Flying "Fly-ing Along," a three-act musical comedy com-edy to be presented at the Paramount Para-mount theater in Provo, March 1 and 2. Provo post No. 13, American Legion, Le-gion, is sponsoring the big show, which is being staged by the Provo Conservatory, under the direction of Chalmers B. Fithian and Rita Brooks, long noted for their art in show production. Dianne Calder, Ted Maynard and Hilma Henrie are the featured performers, per-formers, and are supported by a cast of 120 talented young people who will entertain with singing, dancing, comedy and dramatic bits. Daughters of legionaires from the various communities throughout the county are included in the large cast. As its title would imply, the theme of the musical comedy, "Flying Along," centers around the lives and activities of the men connected with the air corps, their heartaches, love affairs and realizations. The plot is fast-moving and interesting from the opening scenes until the grand finale, and gives much in the way of variety entertainment. There are any number of new melodies and colorful dance routines in the delightful de-lightful show, which is presented in 12 scenes. Too, a gala fashion review re-view weaves its way into the second act as a feature of the farewell function for the commanding officer offi-cer who is about to be transferred. Unusual and striking stage settings set-tings and effects have been worked out and the array of gorgeous costumes cos-tumes will add greatly to the mammoth mam-moth production.
