Show Lions Club Endorses Site Near Training School For New Penitentiary Location The Pleasant Grove Lions club Wednesday night took formal action endorsing the site east of the Utah. State Training School as the location loca-tion for the new state penitentiary. After considerable discussion, the club agreed to sponsor the recommendation recom-mendation of Representative B. H. Adams, for the location of the penitentiary peni-tentiary at the site. At 'the present time, the committee commit-tee assigned by the governor to recommend a site is still deadlocked over a unanimous choice, it was pointed out at the Lions meeting. It was further pointed out that the local site would come in for favorable favor-able consideration. A preliminary survey which has already been made shows a large acreage of land available for farming farm-ing purposes, and ample water for culinary and irrigation purposes, and accessibility to main highways. The Lions committee on public relations was assigned the project to further investigate the proposal and make recommendations to the site-finding committee. Dr. H. H. Ramsay, superintendent of the Utah State Training School, guest speaker at the meeting, gave an interesting discussion on the phases of mental hygiene. He outlined out-lined the history and development of the National Mental Hygiene association, as-sociation, and pointed out the special spe-cial work accomplished at the Training Train-ing School, in the extensive program of rehabilitation carried on among the pupils. Lion Ray Merrill was presented a silver key, a special award from Lions International for membership enrollment. Rulon Brimhall and George Anderson sang two duets, "Napoli" and "La Paloma." |
