Roberts lof Lehi spent last Saturday here with the Gudmundsens. Mrs. W. J. Chadwick entertained the ladies of the School Chums club and two special guests, Mrs. Grace Goates and Mrs. W. D. Stewart Stew-art at her home Thursday afternoon after-noon of last week. The time was spent in sewing following which a tasty 'supper was served. Miss Naomi Gaisford, a student at Henegar's Business College in Salt Lake, was honored this week by her fellow students when she was elected secretary of the student stud-ent body, comprised of some two hundred young men and women. Taylor were in Salt Lake Friday. They combined business with pleasure on the trip. Mrs. R. W. Gardner of Salt Lake and Mrs. T. A. Gardner of Provo visited in American Fork the forepart fore-part of the week with Mrs. W. H. Gardner. Mrs. Ernest Hindley Jr. and son are visiting in Cedar Fort with Mrs. Hindley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cook, while Mr. Hindley is working in Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Baker of Wyoming are the proud parents of a baby daughter, born November 2nd at the home of Mr. Baker's mother, Mrs. Ada Baker here. Mother and babe are doing nicely. She was before ' her marriage, which occured three ' months ago, Miss Ruby Poulson of Orem. A slip-up in the report of the local students attending the B. Y. U., resulted in the ommission of the name of Jay Beck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Beck, from the j group. Mr. Beck is studying for his Master's degree and also is doing do-ing part time work for Dr. Maw in the chemical stock room. Prior to the district convention of the Service Star Legion held here last Thursday, Mrs. J. L. Dunkley, president of tlie local organization served, luncheon to the Ogden visiting ladies and the local officers at her home. The local ladies present were Mrs. Susie Miller, Mil-ler, Mrs. May Laursen, Mrs. Hay-dee Hay-dee Iverson, Mrs. Lillie Wilde, and Mrs. Helen Mercer. Mrs. Sarah Jones, whose 78th birthday occured last Friday, was honored by a party arranged by Mrs. Mary E. Nelson, Pilmary 1 Grade supervisor of the Alpine S Mr. and Mrs. Roy Prince and two children of Salt Lake spent Tuesday afternoon and evening here with Mrs. Prince's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Duncan. Mr. and Mi's. David Davis and two children, Miss Fern Davis of this city and Mrs. Davis' mother, Mrs. A. A. Merrick of Salt Lake returned Sunday from a two weeks visit in California. They visited with relatives in San Francisco and several other cities enroute down the coast to Los Angeles and report a most enjoyable trip. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer ChadWicik celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding wed-ding anniversary last Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Haag Jr. Seventy-five relatives rela-tives and friends were invited to the affair. A program was given consisting of harmonica selections played by four sisters, Mrs. Elmer Chadwick of this city; Mrs. Lynn Walker, Mrs. Lou Walker, and Mrs. Ole Christiansen of Pleasant Grove, accompanied on tho gnitar Bishop Lot Robinson; a reading by Thomas Sunderland; a song by the sisters of Mi's. Chadwick, composed for the occasion, and recalling events of twenty-five years ago. Late in the evening a delicious tray lunch was served. j A party greatly enjoyed by all who participated was that given last Saturday night by the officers and teachers of the First ward M. I. A. and the officers of the ward Sunday School. The party honor- ed Le Roy Mecham, who has been a counselor in the Y. M. M. I. A. superintendency, and his wife, who has been very active in the Sunday Sun-day School, and who are moving to Carbon County. The social also was for Mr. and Mrs. Grant Vest, whose marriage took place recently. The group gathered at the C. A. Grant -home, costumed and masked, and were taken from there to the upstairs of the Mrs. Rosa Grant home where weird contraptions had been arranged to give plenty of thrills. The group then progressed to the T. A. Greenwood home which was cleverly decorated in Hallowe'en Hallo-we'en style. Games of various kinds were played and a tasty tray lunch served in cafeteria style. A prize was awarded to Le Roy Okey for keeping his identity concealed con-cealed the longest and to Mrs. T. A. Greenwood and Mrs. Le Roy Mecham in the games. Forty participated par-ticipated in the party. Mrs. Luther Giddings was hostess host-ess last Thursday afternoon to the Bee Orchis Club ladies. The afternoon after-noon was enjoyably spent in sewing sew-ing and social chat. Mrs. Giddings served a delicious lunch to ths twelve ladies present. Mrs. Emma Foster spent the first of the week in Salt Lake with relatives. She vas accompanied home by her granddaughter, daughter daugh-ter of her son, Ivan, and wife, who are staying here while her mother is in Vernal with a sister who isj m. The Third ward M. I. A. announces announ-ces good progress is being made in the preparations for their play "Bab" which is to be presented in the very near future and the production pro-duction promises to be outstanding hi dramatic affairs of the season. A definite date will be announced soon. Mrs. V. F. Houston and Missi Bernice Wilde entertained the officers offi-cers and teachers of the Second ward Y. L. M. I. A. at the Houston honu Monday night. The forepart of the evening was spent in business busi-ness discussion after which social diversions were indulged in. Progressive Pro-gressive Rook was played, four tables being in progress, and Miss Helen Bird was prize winner. Delicious De-licious refreshments were served. Sixteen were present. School District, was chosen president presi-dent of the Utah Kindergarten-Primary Kindergarten-Primary Supervisors organization. Since 1929 Mrs. Nelson has held the position of secretary-treasurer of this organization. i j Miss Leola Robinson entertained jnine of her friends at a venison, j supper at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Robinson. Covers were laid for Misses Sarah Robinson, Lucile Watkins, Beatrice Monson, Jean Chadwick and the hostess of this city; Dale Whimpey, Ray Dunsdon, Max Davis, Don Sims and Keith Davis of Lehi. The Presidents of the Primary Associations of Alpine stake, the stake president of the association and the teachers of the Guide classes of the wards met at the home of Mrs. John W. Myers Thursdays Thurs-days night of last week. The time was spent in a discussion of problems prob-lems pertaining to the work of this class, following which a social hour was enjoyed and refreshments served. Those in attendance were Mrs. May Marsh, of Alpine, stake president; Mrs. McGregor and Mrs. Devey of Alpine; Mrs. Powell, Wayne Day and Le Grande Adam-son, Adam-son, of Highland; Mrs. Samuel F. Grant and Max Jones of the First ward; Mrs. G. A. Anderson and Mrs. Alton Storrs of the Second Sec-ond ward; Mrs. Murray Murdock and Mrs. Laura Beck of the Fourth ward. |
