Show Pleasant Grove Reduces Tax Levy, Increases Culinary Water Rates The Pleasant Grove city council reduced the city tax levy from 18.25 mills to 17 mills, at a meeting Saturday Satur-day night in the city hall.' Reduction in the levy was made possible by taking off the 2 mill levy for waterworks. In order to offset the loss in revenue, the council by resolution increased the city water rates. The new water rate approved is based on a charge of 10 cents per thousand gallons, for the first 100,- 000 gallons; and 5 cents per thousand thous-and gallons over that amount. The former rate is 7vi cents per thousand thous-and gallons. The council deemed it advisable to make the tax levy reduction, and to shift a larger part of the waterworks expense upon the. culinary water-users. water-users. It is believed the small extra charge for culinary water will bring in revenue sufficient to make up for the 2-mill levy reduction. 1 The tax lev', as approved by resolution, reso-lution, is apportioned as follows: General Fund 4 mills Streets 5 mills Public Safety 3.5 mills Library 1 mill Special Waterworks Sinking Fund 2 mills Bonds Interest Fund 1.5 mills The levy is expected to bring in approximately $11,000 of tax revenues. rev-enues. The council also voted to collect water rates quarterly, instead of twice a year as in the past. The next reading will be in the first part of October, and from that date the readings will be made every three months and bills rendered. The council voted to appropriate funds to the Pleasant Grove-Lindon Metropolitan Water District, to avoid the necessity of the district's setting a separate tax levy of its 1 own. Expenses of the district will I be approximately $100, and this amount will be borne by the Pleasant Plea-sant Grove and Lindon waterworks 1 departments, on a $C0-$40 basis. !
