Show Miss Jean Parker attended a dinner din-ner at the Empire dining room at the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City Saturday afternoon, in honor of Miss Allie Olsen, with whom Miss Parker worked at the Beneficial Life Insurance Insur-ance company. Miss Parker spent the week-end with her parents here, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Parker. West Hammond of thi city has received a gold medal won by Hammond Ham-mond ice cream, in a state ice cream contest at Logan. The ice cream sample was declared to be of one of the highest grades in the state. Mr. Hammond operates an ice cream store in Salt Lake City. . A picnic and outing at the Cave camp in American Fork canyon was enjoyed Sunday afternoon by the Misses Lillian Wilde, Mildred Chip-man, Chip-man, Christine Ramsay, Beth Hutching, Virginia Holmstead, Hazel Cobbley, Vera Chadwick, Idonna Miller, and Bessie Kelly, and Mrs. Margaret Adams, and Mrs. Troy Fisher of Westwood, California. Mrs. Hattie Strong of American Fork announces the engagement of her daughter, Faye, to Mr. Clifford Strom, of Bend, Oregon. Both are students of Brigham Young univer sity. The marriage will take place June 8, at the home of Professor J. M. Jensen, at Provo. Mrs. Samuel F. Grant entertained the Variety club at her home on Thursday of last week. A luncheon Local Items Miss Edith Walker and Miss Lydia Olson spent Wednesday in Salt Lake City on a combined business and pleasure trip. Feality club members enjoyed a "pot luck" party at the home of Mrs. Glen Robinson Thursday of last week. The afternoon was spent in sewing. Clark of Alpine announce the engagement of their daughter, Faye, to Merlin A. Whitby, the marriage to take place June 20 in the Salt Lake City L. D. S. temple. Miss Clarke is a graduate of the class of 1935, from the American Fork high school. For the past two years she has been employed in the Lion house in Salt Lake City. Mr. Whitby is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Whitby5. He recently returned from a two-year mission to the North Central states. Mr. and Mrs. Irving L. On their way from Idaho, where they have been located for some time, to their home in Provo, Mr. and Mrs. George Adams and Mrs. Daisy Draper of Orem called on Mr. and Mrs. Irving L. Pratt here early Monday. Mrs. M. L. Baird and Mrs. Mabel Nelson acted as ushers at the National Na-tional Parent-Teachers' convention at Salt Lake City, Sunday to Wednesday. Wed-nesday. With ten others from the state, they wore white- suits, with capes lined in gold. They carried corsages of sego lilies, and on the capes were the state emblems. Each state represented at the convention had a group of ushers. Also attending attend-ing the convention from here were Mrs. M. L. Baird, president of the local association, and Mrs. Clifford E. Young. Mr. and Mrs. George Brown Jr., and two children; and Mrs. George Brown Sr., of Murray, were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Irving L. Pratt". was served; followed by playing ot t three tables of bridge.' Miss Lillie 1 Shafter won the club prize, and Mrs. . Frank Brown the guest prize. Guests , were Mrs. Frank Brown, Mrs. Owen Humphries, Mrs. Lyle N. Grant, and Mrs. Kenneth Singleton. A delightful party was enjoyed Friday of last week at the home of Emma Green, where the Just-a-Mere club met. Games were played and a delicious lunch was served. A beautifully arranged wedding reception re-ception of early spring was that given Friday evening in the Alpine gymnasium honoring Miss Rose Adamson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Adamson and Ronald Devey of Alpine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Devey. The marriage was solemnized solemniz-ed Thursday in the Salt Lake City L. D. S. temple, Stephen L. Chipman performing the ceremony. The amusement hall was beautifully beauti-fully decorated with spring flowers. In the receiving line were the bride and bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ron-ald Devey, Mr. and Mrs. Adamson, Mr. and Mrs. Devey; Miss Helen Adamson, sister of the bride; Miss Maxine Moyle, Edith Chadwick, Virginia Vir-ginia Holmstead and Afton Devey, sister of the bridegroom. Glen Greenwoou acted as best man. Reuben Reu-ben Baxter, uncle of the bridegroom bride-groom acted as master of ceremonies. Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Helen G. Seely, daughter of Dean W. Seely of Fillmore, Fill-more, to H. Boyd Phillips, son of Mr and Mrs. James W. Phillips. The young couple are juniors at the Utah State Agricultural college at Logan. Mrs. John Bunton, who has been" on a trip to the Eastern states for the past month, is expected to return re-turn home Sunday. Mrs. Bunton relatives here reported, spent some time m New York City, visiting Mrs. F. Hall Barrett, and on her return wil visit with Mr. and Mrs. Brice Mitzel in Ohio, her sister and brother-in-law. The bride was lovely in a gown of Alice blue silk net and carried a bouquet bou-quet of pink roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Moyle and Miss Chadwick Chad-wick wore gowns of pink lace. Miss Holmstead was gowned in a pink silk model. Miss Afton Devey wore a gown of green silk net, and Miss Helen Adamson a pale peach. They wore corsages of sweet peas and roses. The refreshment table was centered center-ed with a low basket of pink and white tulips. Five hundred persons attended, and enjoyed a program and dancing. The -young couple will make their home in Alpine. Among the many out-of-town I visitors for the funeral of Heber A. Harrington here Saturday were the following: Mr. and Mrs. John E.
