Show Pleasant Grove Locals .- Mrs- Pearl Wadley and Mrs. Pruc Coombs spent Wednesday in Salt Lake City. Vance Smith of Magna visited with relatives here Monday and Tuesday. Mrs. J. M. Macfarlanc of Salt Lake City is visiting with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs-J. Mrs-J. M. Macfarlane, here this week. Ten young friends enjoyed a birthday party honoring Bobby Macfarlane, Mac-farlane, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Carlson of Salt Lake City were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. Sanford Walker. Mrs. Carlson is a sister of Mrs. Walker. In honor of Mrs. Vcrda Grange and family, who are moving to Salt Macfarlane here Wednesday. The occasion was Bobby's sixth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Woodworth of Salt Lake City were vLsitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George B. Peay Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Burton H. Adams spent Tuesday in Salt Lake City, on a combined business and pleasure trip- H. W. Jacobs was in Twin Falls, Idaho, this week, on a business t rip. He left here Sunday, exacting to return the latter part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick attended Dairy day at Brigham Qity Saturday. At a black and white day at Richmond. Hope's record was 559 pounds of butterfat in 305 days. Roger Johnson, son of Oscar Johnson, John-son, a former Pleasant Grove resident resi-dent now living in New York City, is spending the summer with relatives rela-tives in Pleasant Grove. Mrs. Priscilla Christiansen and Mrs. Reva Warburton entertained at a shower Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Christiansen, in honor of Mrs. Wesley Rasmussen. Sanford Walker, on Friday of last week. Mrs. Jeppson, Mr. Kirk and son are visiting relatives rela-tives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Freeman announce an-nounce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Rhea, to Cecil Dick-erson, Dick-erson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dickerson of American Fork. The marriage will take place June 1, and a reception will be given in their honor in the Second ward L. D. S. chapel here. Four-H clubs of Manila reorganized reorganiz-ed at meetings Saturday of last week, Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick announced an-nounced Thursday. With Mrs. Warnick Swenson as leader, the first-year foods club elected Marily Warnick, president; Lyle Beth Atwood, vice president, and Irene Warnick, secretary and reporter. The third-year foods club, elected Beverly West, president; Elsie Ellis, vice president; Veda Pack, secretary; Leah Wadley, reporter, and Leah Jean Swenson, cheerleader. Leaders are Helen Warnick, and Katie Eves. New officers for the Manila ward M. I. A. were sustained Sunday night. The new superintendency of the Young Men's association are Alex Wadley, Dean Atwood and Keith Warnick, and the presidency of the Young Ladies, Mrs. Effie W. Adams, Lucy Wadley and Laura Swenson. Outgoing officers are Superintendent Warnick Swenson, Byard Allen, Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick War-nick and Nyal Wadley. who with her family is moving to Salt Lake City in the near future, the Relief society officers and bishopric bish-opric of the Manila ward entertained enter-tained at a party Wednesday night at the home of Bishop and Mrs. H. Margaret Matthews on her seventy-second birthday, a party for members of the immediate family was given at the home of Mrs. Marion Adamson Wednesday night. More than., thirty persons, including two brothers, Hugh Baxter Bax-ter of Springville and David Baxter of Lindon, and a sister, Mrs. Agnes Burns of Pleasant Grove, six of sieven children, and her husband, Walter Matthews, were among those attending. The evening was spent enjoyably in social diversions. WEDDING DATE ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Spaugy of Orem, announce the engagement of their daughter Willmetta, to LeRoy W. Smith son of Mrs. LaRue Smith of Pleasant Grove. The marriage will take place May 19, at the home of the bride's parents. par-ents. The bride is a graduate of the Lincoln high school, where she was an honor student since entering the junior high school, awarded a scholarship scho-larship upon graduation and selected valedictorian by the faculty, and elected by vote of the student body for the "popular lady" award presented pre-sented by the officers of jthe girls' organization. The bridegroom is a graduate of B. Y. U. and is now employed as an instructor in the public schools In Dagget county. |
