Whitehead and son and Mrs. Eliza Russell left Friday for their home In California after visiting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Duncan, here and with relatives in Salt Lake. Mrs. W. H. Lucas and daughter left for Elko, Nevada, to join Mr. Lucas and make their home. Mrs. Lillian Wilde and Miss Leona Kelly were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mrs. George Taylor of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Harold Chipmah returned Friday last from a week's visit in Payson with her sister, Mrs. Le-Grande Le-Grande Gudmundsen and family. Mrs. Melvin Grant and two daughters, La Rae and Carina, spent last week-end in Park City, guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Wilson. - I Mrs. Elgin Lee and daughter spent last week-end in South Jordan with Mrs. Lee's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Beckstead. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley McAllister of Kanab spent the first of the week here with Mr. and Mrs. A. D. McAllister Mc-Allister and family. A meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary officers was held Thursday Thurs-day night at the home of Mrs. Hay-dee Hay-dee Iverson. Business was discussed after which delicious refreshments ware served by the hostess. Mrs. Lottie Clayton and Mrs. Emma Em-ma Chase returned to Salt Lake City Tuesday after a week's visit here with their sister, Mrs. S. F. j Grant. Saturday these three with j their aunt, Mrs. Lizzie Ovard, motored mo-tored to iSpringville and spent the day with another sister, Mrs. Hattie Smith, in a quilting. The members of the Variety Club were entertained last Friday afternoon after-noon by Mrs. Mate Earl at her home. ' Three tables of bridge were played, Miss Lillie Shafter winning the dub prize, and Mrs. Melvin Grant the j cut prize. Mrs. Leo Meredith was a. special guest. Late in the afternoon after-noon a tasty lunch was served at the small tables. Mrs. M. L. Baird entertained at a bridge luncheon at her home last Saturday afternoon. The guests included: in-cluded: Mesdames Leo Meredith, V. F. Houston, Eldon Chipman, Glen Sykes, Clyde Thornton, Stanford Wilde, David Taylor, James Chad-wick, Chad-wick, Stanford Briggs, Howard Nicholes, Russell Humphreys, Chris Scott, E. H. Devey, Eslie Bennett and Mark Coddington of this city, and Mrs. Spencer Taylor of Salt Lake City. The rooms were attractively attrac-tively decorated with fall flowers. Mrs. Leo Meredith won the high score prize and Mrs. James Chad-wick Chad-wick the cut prize. Donald Tregaskis celebrated his eighth birthday Friday, October 23 with a Hallowe'en costume party. Many games were played, with Miss Gladys Grant and Morris .Varney winning the prizes. The twenty-four twenty-four guests were all seated at a table with a long candle at each end. A birthday cake with eight candles formed the centerpiece and at each plate was a Hallowe'en favor filled with candy. -A tasty lunch was served and a good time enjoyed by everyone. . .' ' Mrs. Rhoda Parker is confined to her home with injuries sustained late last week. Mrs. Parker had the unfortunate experience of being run Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Mrs. Norman Draper, wno recently recent-ly was severely injured in an auto accident, is recovering at her home. An arm and shoulder were badly bruised and Mrs. Draper suffered a bad shake-up in the accident. Harvel "Bun" Bennett was brought home Friday from the L. D. S. Hospital in Salt Lake where he was confined for two weeks following an operation for hernia. Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Douglas and son of Salt Lake visited with Mrs. Douglas' mother, Mrs. R. J. Stice, of this city Saturday night and Sunday Sun-day last. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Van Wagoner with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fox of Lehi motored to Salt Lake last Saturday night and attended a theatre. The approach to the garage is on a slight grade and in some way the car started downgrade, knocking Mrs. Parker to the ground. The front wheels passed over her chest and the rear wheels dragged her for some distance. She was badly bruised and for several days was in considerable pain. |
