The secretary of agriculture has announced an-nounced a further restriction In the quantity of lead residue permitted on apples and penrs in Interstate commerce. Ordinary washing of the fruit before eating will remove the residue, while peeling or cutting out the stems and blossom ends, where the residue Is most dllllctilt to wash Is an added measure of safety. |
