Show Annual Tinip Hike To StartTonisht Recreation lovers from all parts of the intermountain west will converge con-verge in Aspen Grove at the foot of 12.000 foot Mount Timpanogos Friday, Fri-day, for the greatest mountain climbing event in America. Originated Origi-nated 27 years ago by Eugene L. Roberts, this hike annually attracts thousands. A pro-hike program under the direction di-rection of Dr. Gerrit de Jong of Brlgham Young university will be offered Friday evening in the picturesque pic-turesque Timpanagos theatre. Choral Cho-ral and solo singing will be presented as well as some interesting Indian dances by Professor Karl Young. Community singing under the direction direc-tion of Augustus D. Zanzig of New York will also be a feature of the program, as well as music by the Provo high school band. The program in the theatre will be climaxed by a fire lighting ceremony in which 27 girls will take part. Fireworks will also be displayed. Approximately 10.000 persons annually ann-ually gather for the program, and about 4000 remain for the hike beginning be-ginning early Saturday morning. |
