Show Pioneer Mother Answers Final Call Mrs. Ada Stoddart, 83 years of age, a beloved and highly respected pioneer citizen of Lehl, answered her final call Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. She suffered an attack of gall stones several days ago and since last Friday had been very UX She had been ailing for a long time, and was unable to overcome the attack at-tack due to her advanced age. Mrs- Stoddart was born in Leicester, Lei-cester, Leicestershire, England, November No-vember 17, 1847, the daughter of Edward and Lucy' Charles Steel. She came to Utah with her parents in 1862, crossing the plains by ox team. They first settled in Salt Lake City later coming to L e h i, where Mrs. Stoddart spent most of her life. In 1874 she married Robert Stoddart, Stod-dart, who died in 1893. Mrs. Stoddart Stod-dart will be remembered as manager of the Union Hotel in Lehi for many years. She was the mother of twelve children, chil-dren, eight of whom survive as follows: fol-lows: Mrs. Joseph Kirkham, Mrs-George Mrs-George S. Peterson and Robert Stoddart, Stod-dart, Lehi; Mrs. Joseph H- Kirkham, Garland; Mrs. Ada Merrihew and Mrs. Ellis B. Barlow, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ira Taylor of Spanish Fork and Mrs. J. Edward Lee of American Amer-ican Fork; also 43 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday Fri-day at 2 o'clock in the Fifth ward chapel. Interment will be made in the American Fork cemetery. |
