Show City Council Arranges For Weed Cleanup Mrs. West Hammond and Mrs. Joseph Nicholes met with the city council Monday evening as representatives repre-sentatives of the Ladies Literary club, asking that the city cooperate in helping to clean the sidewalks of weeds. - It was suggested thai the city ask the citizens to clean the weeds from in front of their premises. Mayor Adamson suggested that a committee composed of the council, ward bishops, Lions club, both literary liter-ary clubs meet and work out a suitable suit-able plan of action. Don Wagstaff was present and asked the council to take action on keeping unlicensed coal peddlers from bringing coal into the city. The matter was left to the Police Commission to take care of. Councilman Preston reported that the tool house had been removed from the cemetery to a turkey farm. It was referred to the cemetery committee com-mittee to investigate and correct. Regarding cemetery collection, it was suggested that the records be checked and those delinquent in this matter notified. Hie matter of the Salt Lake & Utah railroad switching freight trains during the night was discussed dis-cussed and it was moved that the marshal be authorized to confer with the station agent regarding the matter of switching in town. Also to ask that the trains be kept on the outskirts of town while switching switch-ing and to have the railroad live up to their franchise regarding this. The speeding condition in American Amer-ican Fork was brought up for discussion dis-cussion and it was suggested that Marshal McNiell concentrate on checking the speeders who are becoming be-coming a menace. He was asked to report back at the next meeting as to the outcome. It was suggested that the chair-'. chair-'. man of the road committee and the Lions club contact the State Road Commission asking them to take over Center street and resurface it. A communication was received from the Utah State Municipal League inviting the city officers to j the convention August 27, 28 and 29. n |
