Show Ten Years Ago Now J (Taken from files of April 16, 1937) Ten Years Ago Now The American Fork Motor Company Com-pany walked away with Utah county honors in the March selling contest in which all six Ford agencies of the district competed.. The local company com-pany scored over 100 tier rent in nil five of the contested sales. These were cars, trucks, tractors, Dearborns Dear-borns and special savings sales. Provo came second in the contest, Lehi fourth and Payson last. The losers had to finance a banquet for the garage forces of all the six contestants. con-testants. Ten Years Ago Now Utah county high school day will be held in American Fork on Friday May 6th. This city was chosen as the place in which to hold this gala day for high school students of the county. Monday afternoon at a meeting of the county school officials offic-ials and principals, held at the Provo high school. The finals of the declamation contest will be held in the stake tabernacle commencing at 10:15 a. m. The outstanding feature of the day will be the track-meet which will take place in the afternoon after-noon at the city ball park. The order of the event will be the same as scheduled for the state meet to b? held in Salt Lake City May 13. A dance in the Apollo hal in the evening will close the activities of the day. Ten Years Ago Now . Central Utah league baseball will open Wednesday, May 11, with either eith-er eight or nine teams in the circuit. Setting of the opening date, acceptance accep-tance of Park City's application for a league franchise, and a doubtful report from Heber City were the high points of the league meeting which was held at Spanish Fork Tuesday night. The leagues directors direc-tors decided on the adoption of the Wilson ball as the official league ball. Ten Years Ago Now If the first meeting of the newly organized American Fork Lions Club, which was held Thursday evening eve-ning in the City Hall, can be taken as any indication of the organization's organiza-tion's future activities our city can look for some real civic work from this group of citizens. The members mem-bers selected a very strong group of officers, choosing William Chipman as president, Joseph H. Storrs, 1st vice-president; L. B. Adamson, 2nd Vice-president; Thomas Coddington, 3rd Vice-president; Joseph F. Walton, Wal-ton, secretary; E. W. Paxman, treasurer; treas-urer; C. A. Grant Lion Tamer; Earl Holmstead, Tail Twister and J. E. Chadwick, William Thornton, K. J. Bird and J. L. Firmage, directors. Suitable committees will be selected later to assist the officers in carrying carry-ing out the future work and projects. |
