Show Last Tribute To Mrs. Kopp Paid At Manila Rites Mrs. Caroline Mullen Koto 72 laid to rest Friday, TonLig Mrs Kopp died Monday evenine 0 'eek of bronchial pneumonia, niter a month's illness. A biographical sketch of her life road at the services by Mrs. John' Beck of American Fork, follows: Biographical Sketch Caroline (Mueller Kopp, daughter of Frederick Mueller and Elizabeth Sander Mueller, was born August 21 1 8 6 6, at Pfeffelback, Rhineland' Germany. She was married to Philip Kopp, October 8, 1887, at Saarbrucken, where they resided at that time. Six children, were born to that union, three of whom died I in babyhood and three of whom Her school girl chum first brought to her attention the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints, in the year 1903. During Dur-ing the following two years she accompanied ac-companied her friend, Mary Schmidt to the meetings of the Saarbrucken branch of the church, and finally was baptized in the partly-frozen river Saar, April i, 1905. She had been sorely afflicted with arthritis, and during her married life was unable to attend to her family and household duties. It was her firm belief and fervent prayer that when she was baptized she would be healed, and so great was her faith this great blessing was granted her. Mr. Kopp was a prominent business busi-ness man in Saarbrucken. She held open house for the missionaries and was called lovingly by all the elders, "Mudder Kopp". Eventually, due to her determination and persuasion, he accompanied her to the river, where she was baptized by Llder Tribe of Ogden. In the year 1907 Sister Kopp persuaded per-suaded Mr. Kopp to sell his business and go on a trip through Germany, Holland and America. The family arrived in Salt Lake City, May 9, 1909. They met with reverses and, unable to understand the language Mr. Kopp became very discouraged. He persistently wanted to return to Germany, but sister Kopp, succeeded succeed-ed in getting him to purchase property prop-erty in Salt Lake. They continued to meet with reverses, and finally moved to Draper. They then were induced to buy property in Payson. He made a down payment on a farm there On their way in a covered wagon to locate there, they met a brother Homer of Pleasant Grove, art l shored in Saarbrucken. He prevailed upon them to come to Pleasant Grove and locate. They forfeited their down payment and located in Pleasant Grove. Sister Kopp was a Bible student and was well read in and understood the Church works. On February 5, 1921 Brother Kopp was baptized, and one year later, February 1 they, were married in the Salt Lake em-nle em-nle They settled in Manila in their advanced years, on a small five-acre farm And, although unaccustomed hardships, toiled and w:Mto own hard labor converted this bare wlste , into a lovely orchard where C since had made their livelihood. Sr Kopp's health failed. She wa mftherto" Z to her own. She practically raised rais-ed her widowed daughter's son, Ray- grandsons. |
