This year's FFA is starting a new tradition. They will be holding a Chapter Sweetheart Contest during FFA week, which starts Tuesday, Feb. 18. The contestants will compete in ahaystackingcontest. On Wednes-day, Feb. 19, they will compete in a pie eating and a rootbeer guzzling contest. Thursday, Feb. 20, they will have a team roping contest. Then Friday morning the FFA will hold an assembly where the girls will model in formal dresses. Each girl will make a picnic lunch to be auc-tioned off. The contestants will be an-nounced next week. More than 404,500 FFA mem-bers will promote FFA, high school agriculture and the food and fiber industry during National FFA Week, Feb. 18-2- FFA members in more than 7,800 chapters across the U.S., including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, will be organizing events and ac tivities to create awareness of and support for high school agriculture and FFA. This year's theme for the week, "Agriculture's LeadingEdge-FFA,- " will be seen throughout communi-ties nationwide, not only through promotional efforts of the local members, but also through a na-tional public service announce-ment campaign. FFA activities and high school agriculture classes emphasize leadership skills, innovative prac-tices and the application of both the industry of agriculture. (Irovecrest students of the Month for January are, L-- Shannon Sorenson, Rebecca Sykes, Tara Chesnut, Rebecca Bauni, and Bridger Anderson. They are from the first grade and afternoon kindergarten. Former resident receives Cattlewoman award other special guests were family members and company officials, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Miller of Hyrum. During the coming year she will also represent National Association as Beef Promotion Chairman for Utah, Nevada, Arizona and California. Renae and her husband, William J. Alldredge, and their family reside in Spanish Fork and Bird- - seye. She is the daughter of Mrs. Eva Reynolds of Pleasant Grove and Mr. Reed Orton of Birdseye. She is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and BYU. Renae Swenson Alldredge, for-merly of Pleasant Grove, was the recipient of the "Spirit of the Utah Cattlewomen Award" at the recent 7()th Annual Utah Cattlemen's and Cattlewomen's Association Con-vention. Announcement of the award was made by Mrs. Genevieve Larsen, state president of the Utah Cat-tlewomen's Association at the annual award banquet held in Salt Lake City. The award was presented to Renae for her dedication and years of service toward the promotion of beef products for Utah. She has been involved in educational programs in the schools and also promotions, grand openings and speaking assignments to all age groups. This last year she served as vice chairman of consumer relations and heel promotion for the Utah Cat-tlemen's Association and was Utah State Cowbelles president during 1981-8- During the past seven years, she has been the promotional representative for E.A. Miller Blue Ribbon Beef which is a subsidiary of the nation's number one packing plant, CONAGRA. A tribute was given to her mother by a daughter, Janet Swenson, and IfllyT'' 1 Ji ) ', i Sfirt&illlll p 'Mif;l.': Renae Alldredge Lincoln Church selected for honor iisiissi"' liiiitittl - Lincoln Church, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Church, who is a senior student at Pleasant Grove High School, is the winner of the Good Citizen Award, sponsored by the Wasatch Range Chapter of the JNational Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Every year an award is given to a senior student in each of the accredited Utah Senior High Schools. The school representative is selected by a member ofhis or her senior class and by the faculty of the school. Consideration is given to outstanding qualities of de-pendability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Lincoln will receive a Certificate of Award and a DAR Good Citizens Pin at the school Awards Assem-bly. He will compete with winning students from other Utah High School Divisions for the State kward, including a $100 check, State Certificate of Award, and tate DAR Good Citizens Pin. This class will be taught by in-structors from the Pleasant Grove City Emergency Medical Service. The course includes both i-nstructional and practical curriculum, for those who take the written and practial test portions of the course will receive a cer-tification card from the American Heart Association. .
