Camille McKendrick was nominated for her performance as Verda in "April Anne" for outstanding out-standing youth actress in a semi-professional semi-professional musical. Keith Christeson was nominated for his role as Daddy Warbucks in Lehi's presentation of "Annie;" and Pleasant Grove Junior High Drama teacher, Jane Williams, received the outstanding character actress in a semi-professional musical guild award for her role of Miss Hannigan in Lehi's version of "Annie." Duke Major was nominated for outstanding artistic direction of a play for "The Odd Couple" which was presented at Valley Center Playhouse in Lindon. Nominated for outstanding production of a play were Valley Center Playhouse productions of "The Odd Couple," "Hotel Frankenstein," "A Christmas Carol," "Hold Onto June," "Tom Sawyer," and the "Educated Heart." Pleasant Grove Players had their production of "You Can't Take It With You" nominated in this category. In outstanding production of a semi-professional musical, Pleasant Grove Players were nominated for "Finians Rainbow" and Valley Center Playhouse received nominations for "April Anne" and "Of Peace and Pardon." The guild named "Brighton Beach Memoirs" by the Payson Community Com-munity Theater as the outstanding production of a play; UVCC's "Godspell" as the winning outstanding out-standing production of a semi-professional semi-professional musical; and Sundance's Sun-dance's presentation of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" as the outstanding production of a professional musical. A year's worth of efforts were rewarded last Wednesday night when the Theater Guild of Utah Valley held its annual awards ceremony. Those who received awards for locally produced presentations were Kathleen Reed for outstanding costume design in a play for "You Can't Take It With You;" Keith Christeson and Mike Perry for outstanding set design in a play for "You Can't Take It With You ; " Kyle Judson and J. Judson for outstanding out-standing lighting design in a semi-professional semi-professional musical for "Finians Rainbow." Mike Renstrom received the award for outstanding youth actor in a semi-professional musical for his role of Joey in "April Anne." Mekette Miner was awarded a trophy for outstanding youth actress in a play for her performance in "Hold Onto June." Sheldon Worthington received an outstanding character actor in a play award for his performance in "The Odd Couple." Keith Christeson was presented the outstanding lead actor in a play award for his role as Oscar in "The Odd Couple." Outstanding lead actress in a semi-professional musical went to Janiel Miller for "Finians Rain-:'bow." Rain-:'bow." ; LeRoy Wilcox was named as outstanding character actor in a semi-professional musical for his performance as Opea Jaeger in "Of Peace and Pardon." Local performers and presentations presen-tations received numerous nominations for the awards which is quite an honor in itself. Those nominated include Mike Renstrom for outstanding lighting design in a play for "Hold Onto June;" Michael Christiansen for "The Odd Couple" and "Educated Heart;" Jason Draper for "Hotel Frankenstein;" and Kyle Judson and James Phillips for "You Can't Take It With You." Steve Peterson Interiors was nominated for outstanding set design for a play in "The Odd Couple." Michael Christiansen was also nominated for outstanding sound design in a play for " The Odd Couple." Doug Bezzant was nominated for outstanding sound design for a semi-professional musical for "Finians Rainbow." Maria Haws was nominated in the same category for "Of Peace and Pardon." In other categories, Bobby Markham was nominated for outstanding out-standing youth actor in a semi-professional semi-professional musical for his role of Dirk in "Of Peace and Pardon." David Berry and Mike Renstrom were also nominated for outstanding youth actor in a play for their performances per-formances in "Hold Onto June" and "Educated Heart," respectively. Julie Stansfield was nominated for outstanding youth actress in a play for her performance in "Tom Sawyer." Steven Briggs of "Hotel Frankenstein" and John Renstrom of "Educated Heart" were nominated for outstanding character actor in a play. Madeline Watkins received an outstanding character actress in a play nomination for her performance per-formance in "Hotel Frankenstein." Alan Wagoner received a nomination as outstanding supporting sup-porting actor in a play for his role of Roy in "The Odd Couple." Kathleen Reed was nominated for her performance per-formance as Essie Carmichael in "You Can't Take It With You" and Julie Renstrom was nominated for her role as Natasha in "Hotel Frankenstein" in the outstanding supporting actress in a play category. In the area of outstanding lead actor in a play, Keith Christeson's co-star, Dennis Purdy who played Felix, in "The Odd Couple," also was nominated. Marie Miller, who played June in "Hold On To June," and Maxine Miller, who played Mrs. Woodknocker in "Hotel Frankenstein," Franken-stein," were nominated for outstanding out-standing lead actress in a play. From "Of Peace and Pardon," Jacqueline Harrison was nominated for outstanding lead actress in a semi-professional musical for her role as Gayle Davis. Steve Markham was nominated |
