Neil Shumway moved in the home seven years ago and decorated the outdoors for the holiday season. Each year new lights are added on the inside as well as the outside. The home is well known among Pleasant Grove natives as the residence of Lavina Fugal who was America's Mother of the Year in 1955. The home was purchased by Lavina 's son, Roy and his wife Olive, before Lavina passed away. Shumway started collecting Christmas lights while working at Grand Central. He purchased defective lights and repaired them. When he moved to Pleasant Grove his grandmother had gone out all over to see pretty Christmas lights and there wasn't any. It was during the time everyone was conserving power. So Neil decorated his home for his grandmother grand-mother and her friends to come and see.
