Show BYU campus to close roads on Christmas Day All roads and parking lots at BYU will be closed for 24 hours over the Christmas break so that the university can legally maintain ownership of private right-of-way. The closure will begin at midnight on Dec. 24 and continue until midnight Dec. 25. Roads to be barricated include 450 East at the Marriott Center, 1230 North at the main campus entrance, Campus Drive and others. Access to housing areas can be obtained from University Parkway, 900 East and 150 East. "The law stats that if there is a highway or road that is used by the public for 10 years of more, that road or highway becomes public property," says Lt. Mike Harroun' of the Traffic Office. To maintain private ownership of these roads, the university closes the campus for 24 hours every three years. |
