Show OUR SCHOOLS There nre many parents in this town whose only contact; with their childrena school is the child hself. Perhaps they have never sot a foot inside of the school that (mins their child. We need an awakening of public ' toneience in this eotmmity toward our schools. We need a greater cooperation co-operation hetv.een tho parents here and our teachers. A greater cooperation between (school and home means the training of a finer fin-er (croup of future citizens. National leaders are agreed that 'education of .our youth has become almost our largest and certainly Jour most important activity. Each year has found an increasing int-J int-J crest on the part of the ciJzens of this country in education. This, is evidenced by the fact that although alth-ough the population of the nation lias increased approximately 8 per cent during, the past nine years, wo have wKnese d 14 percent inc- -'reuse, in the number of children in joirr grade schools and a 70 per- - . I cent increase in the number in our high schools, lu , a period of less . ; ithan ten years we have expanded " jwr?ktf adpansyst'em from an 'outlay of twelve hundred million , dollar to twenty seven hundrer million' dollars. ' . In -spite of this tremendous -growth in schol at.tendnee and investment, in-vestment, many educators tell us ! that the adult population "of this country arc not taking the active interest ia educational matters that the importance of the subject deserves. .. In tlw comunily campaign that . v,-e are featuring in this peper ilie schools are discussed and in this j discussion there are some rather pertinent facts, Equal opportunity is the right of every child. Every ,':dult whether, a parent or not should he interested iu educational education-al maters, for the way that our children are trained, determines the citizens that are to be in the future.
