Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce Keview - Wednesday, March 19, 1986 - Page 10 Pee wee hardball registration set All boys and girls going into first, second or third grades next fall are invited to register for Pee Wee hardball on March 21 and March 28 at Lindon Elementary School from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Coaches will pilch to the kids and will play at least two innings per game. The only things the kids will need are a mitt and lots of energy. All games will be played either at Lindon Park or Lindon School on Saturday mornings beginning June 7. This league is not formed through or associated with the Pleasant Grove Recreation. It is the only hard ball league offered for the kids of this age in this area. Bowling Special Olympics held in Lindon The Bowling Special Olympics were held Wednesday at the Super Bowl in Lindon. Eighty-on- e children and adults participated in the event which was sponsored by Area 5 of the Special Olympics. The students involved were from Alpine School District and Wasatch School District as well as Hidden Hollow and Heber Community Transition Center for adults. Twenty volunteers aided in the event. Some of the Super Bowl league players stayed to assist. Bruce Nielson, assistant director of the Utah Special Olympics, reported that the bowlers are divided up according to age and ability. There is a metal ramp for those in wheelchairs to use for bowling. They get help from the volunteers in getting a good aim at the bowling pins. Bruce said that the kids practice every week to get ready for this event. Hidden Hollow has a special bowling league each Friday af-ternoon. Winners through fifth place receive an award. All bowlers get a ribbon depending on where they place in their group. The Utah State Training School held its own tournament last Saturday at the Super Bowl. BYU plans football coaches clinic Jack Bicknell, head football coach at Boston College, will be the guest speaker at the Seventh Annual Football Coaches Clinic March 28-2- 9 at BYU. The clinic is sponsored by BYU Football in conjunction with the Utah Football Coaches Association. More information can be obtained by calling BYU Conferences and Workshops at Bicknell is Boston College's 29th head football coach. Since assuming the position, he has led the Eagles to the Tangerine, Liberty and Cotton Bowls. The Cotton Bowl wind awarded BC the Lamber Meadowlands Trophy as the East's No. 1 team. Bicknell is regarded as one of the best offensive strategists in the college game today. A former college quarterback himself, he coached 1984 Heisman winner Doug Flutie. In addition to Bicknell's address, clinic participants will watch th, BYU BlueWhite Game in Cougar Staddium and BYU football prac. tice. They will also hear University of Utah sports psychologist Bob McGowan. BYU coaches, including head coach Lavell Edwards and strength and conditioning coach Chuck Stiggins, will reveal strategies thai have led the Cougars to a national championship and to consistent offensive showings in the NCAA.
