Show Kids follow parents bad examples, t0 -i i r -, .... : f Because many young people imitate adult behavior, parents need to take a good look at themselves them-selves and their use of alcohol and drugs, according to Gayle Judd, Pleasant Grove, of the Utah State Citizens Coalition on the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Problems. In the May 1984 U.S. News and World Report in 1962, only four percent of adults, ages 18 to 25, had smoked marijuana. By 1982, that figure had risen to 64 percent. During 1983, 22 million Americans used cocaine, compared to a very small number in 1962. Children form a perception of their parents' behavior very early in life. Parents who tell their children one thing and do another need to re-examine themselves. Confused and mixed messages being sent to children do not make for good prevention in the home. Adults, especially parents, should examine their own behavior and reflect on how it may affect their children.
