Show Fine proposed for bldg. inspection violations Councilman Dell Young brought it to the attention of the Pleasant Grove City Council that some people have moved into their homes before the final building inspection and without properly signing up for water. Councilman Lloyd Ash suggested that the city set a fine of so much per day for living in the home without the final inspection. He said this would be much easier to handle than trying to evict someone which takes a considerable amount of time. The contractor or builder would be advised of this when the building permit was issued. The building inspector reported that it had recently come to his attention that a family had moved into a home without a final inspection, in-spection, had lived there six months and never had signed up for water nor had the contractor signed up for water and no billing had been made. He said that with a fine or by not setting a water meter until after the final inspection perhaps these problems could be eliminated. Problems with not setting the water meter- until after the inspection in-spection were discussed as the council felt it would be easy to tap into a water line without the meter anyway. Councilman David Dickerson said that if a law is already on the books that would cover this then it should be used rather than preparing another new rule. Building Inspector Fred Christensen was asked to look into the present ordinances and see what is already allowed and what can be added. |
