Show People, Politics & Policy S Who was that man in the blue suit! way things are shaping up te could be a distinct possibility.!! Bf becomes a reality my vote ii t j"01 Jack Hill. He looks good in jj blue suits. ftn By E. Mark Bezzant Jack Hill at the state capital? That is right. Jack Hill just might be in the state capital come January, and you can say you read it first in the Pleasant Grove Review. The other day Jack came in the high school with a navy blue suit and tie on. I knew right away that something was up. Jack either was made bishop of his ward, someone died, or someone was getting married. I was wrong. Dead wrong. Jack had been out to breakfast with Norm Bangerter who is running for the governor's , spot on the Republican ticket. Jack has been a friend of Bangerter's since their high school days. It was then that the clouds parted and the sun came through. If Norm Bangerter is elected as the governor then he will need a press secretary, and who could be better for that than Jack Hill. I mean the same Jack Hill whose articles you have been reading in this very paper. Not Jack Anderson but Jack Hill. The guy who has been teaching Journalism, American Problems, Graphics, and U.S. History to your kids. No, not Jack Dempsey but Jack Hill. You know the guy who used to coach basketball when Harold Newman was in his prime. No, not Jack Pace, Jack Hill. The guy who was Jack Pace's right hand man in the newspaper business for a while. That is right, the husband of Anne Hill. The father of the late and great Pleasant Grove High School football star Clark Hill. The father of recent Pleasant Grove High School graduate Kristin Hill. The same guy who keeps track of when the apricots bloom each year. By the way, Jack tells me the bloom was really late this year. Who could be better? Scott Matheson went for the young college type. Jimmy Carter used Jody Powell. President Reagan has chosen older wiser types People like Jack Hill and look how well he has done. I'm not against youth or anything but this is ideal. Norm Bangerter has a chance to get an old friend whom he can trust, one who is well-versed in the news business, one who shares similar political views, one who knows and loves current events, and one who the people of Pleasant Grove could say, "I know him, that is Jack Hill, the former coach and teacher and newsman from Pleasant Grove." One technicality. Norm Bangerter needs to get himself elected as the governor first. The |
