Show 'Fiddler on the Roof opens Friday at the Alhambra ' The well-known "Fiddler on the ' ; jf;" directed by Audra Moss, will ', open' May 6 at 8 p.m. in the " Alhambra Theatre in downtown pleasant Grove. The role of Tevye, the milkman and papa to three lovely marriagable daughters, is double ' cast with Randy Gleave and Jim Shumway. Randy could double for Topol's Tevye from the motion picture "Fiddler on the Roof," and is just as commanding when on stage. Randy and Jim are very experienced performers, one with stage leads and some movies to his ' credit and the latter has performed ' Tevye before in Orem's Summer 'i'' Festival a few years back. A special note of interest, Jim is something of ', a fiddler himself, he was Orem ' High's sterling scholar in music. c Tevye's wife, Golde, is also double cast with Clare Johnson ) and Sydney Riggs. ! Clare is a voice teacher with I years of experience on the stage. She also has spent a lot of time ; supporting husband, Doug Johnson's efforts, Wind Walker, Harry's War, and John Baker's ! Last Race to mention a few. '! Sidney for the last seven i summers has had leading roles in i Orem's summer festival, and of course she will give it her all this J year also. She has been on a i committee at Brigham Young University who's primary concern was to evaluate and give recommendation on excellence of performance. After getting her masters in acting at BYU she had a year of professional experience in theatre. Following this she has supported her husband in building up a thriving business, surviving on community theatre to keep her artistic talents alive and well. Shauna Moss who plays Tzeitel you may remember from several local productions. Motel, the tailor is played by Richard Hodson. This, of course, is not Yenta, the matchmaker's (played by Myrth Burr) first choice. She thinks Lazor Wolf, the butcher would be a more profitable choice. However, Fruma Sara (played by NeadaJ Menlove) doesn't agree, most frighteningly. The Rabbi (Bruce Beaman) makes the lasting ties final, only to be interrupted by the Russian soldiers, one of whom is Pedro Seuret, a BYU student from Puerto Rico. The sets for "Fiddler on the Roof have been designed by Karl Pope of Brigham Young University, with spectacular special effects. Performances will begin at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 7:30 p.m. on Mondays. |
