Chamber Music Society announces rehearsals The Alpine Area Chamber Music Society announces orchestra rehearsals for its new 1983-8- 4 season. Rehearsals begin at 8:30 a.m. each Saturday in the Pleasant Grove High School Band Room. The conductor, Leon Honey, invites all those interested in performing with the orchestra to attend. He says there is a need for string players; violin, viola, cello ,and bass. Wind instrumentalists are also needed to round out the sound of the orchestra. Though the primary purpose of the orchestra is to perform chamber music, this season's calendar includes a variety of lighter numbers. Mr. Honey encourages area musicians to dust off their instruments, join the orchestra, and use the talents they've developed. For more information call Rex Helm at 224-292- Inmates to perform in Park City theater Inmates of the Utah State Prison will present one performance of John Patrick's "The Curious Savage" on Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. in the Egyptian Theatre in Park City. General admission is $5. For reservations call the Egyptian Theatre at 649-937- One half of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the theatre to support its coming season; the remaining monies will be utilized by the prison to build a theatre library. Two additional performances will be presented the following weekend, Oct. 20 and 21, at 8 p.m. in the auditorium of the Utah State Prison at the Point of the Mountain. Performances at the prison are open to the public age 18 and over. The public is requested to leave coats and handbags in their cars. There is no admission charge. All productions are by the Utah Arts Council and the Utah State Prison, and directed by Richard Jewkes. The director of the theatre in prison program, Richard has successfully presented two other plays at the prison, officially "breaking ground" in January of 1982 with the courtroom drama. "Twelve Angry Men." Because of the overwhelming response by the public, Jewkes presented Ayn Rand's "The Night of January 16th" four months later. In addition to "The Curious Savage," Jewkes is also working on a production of David Mamet's "American Buf-falo." The casts of all former plays have been comprised solely of male and female inmates from the medium security facility. All performances to date have been presented only at the prison facilities. When Richard approached the prison's warden, Kenneth Shulson, about producing "The Curious Savage," the two men decided to try a new approach this time. This production will utilize not only a combination of different level security inmates, but will also "take to the road" for the first time. "The Curious Savage" is a warm-hearted comedy set in a mental institution. The play asks the question, "Who is really crazy, the ones on the inside or the ones on the outside..."
