ViMisgs stat-o- M I T-Bi-ris Both teams returned from half-tim- e fired up. Walker kicked off for the Vikes and in an unusual play, he ended up with the ball. Rob Carlisle returned Walker's kick 12 yards where Jerry Adamson nearly tore him in half and the ball squirted straight in the air. In full stride, Walker caught the ball and raced 23 yards into the end zone for PG's second score. A scant :07 had ticked off the scoreclock and PG was ahead 12-- The PAT kick was wide. Walker's touchdown started a big third period for the Vikes. Defensive-ly they held Timpview to zero yards rushing and a mere 12 yards passing while the PG offense was posting two more scores to go with Walker's fumble return touchdown. Hill was 11 of 23 for 137 yards passing with no interceptions. Allred rushed for 57 yards and Harrison picked up 54 on the ground. Pierce was 12 of 31 for 145 yards but had five passes intercepted. Chambers caught five passes for the Vikes with Walker hauling in four and Hilton caught a pair. Walker averaged 50.4 yards on five kickoffs with Hill punting four times for a 35.5 yard average. Tomorrow PG hosts the 1400 member student body of American Fork High School in a 3 p.m. game. AF rolled over Uintah 34-- 0 last week and the only loss they have this season is to Orem. The Cavemen have a large physical team that features a pair of 250 pound tackles. " One avid Viking football fan made lis statement prior to last Friday's U at Timpview: Tnordertowin tonight, Pleasant i Lve will have to intercept at least ii Timpview passes." !i PC got those two plus three others n total of five and defeated the taderbirds on their own field, 35 WO. ,95 55 Tim Chambers picked off two 5j ie Mark Harvey, Craig Hilton gj ndScott Walker each came up with u Timpview pass to halt Thunder-- (rd drives. Contrary to expectations, Timp-9- 5 Sew played a very conservative first 95 pee quarters by throwing the ball lit 11 times and completing two. While the were playing it ose to the vest, PG was using a ide open attack to build up a 25-- 0 lid to open the fourth quarter. The Vikes first score came on a irt Harrison one yard plunge early the second period. Harrison's run pped a 63 yard drive that saw quarterback, Clark Hill, wet on three straight passes for ji, yards. Harrison gave PG an 18-- 0 margin on the board with a three yard run and Hill added the PAT kick. Late in the period, Allred took the option pitch around left end and shot into the end zone on a 21 yard sprint. The two point pass attempt was batted down. After a very conservative 36 minutes of play by Timpview, the opened up their passing attack and threw the ball 20 times in the final 12 minutes. Pierce scored the only touchdown on a one yard keeper and then passed to Rod Frazier for the two point conversion. Walker intercepted a Pierce pass to halt the next Timpview drive and the Vikes offense went conservative. On the second play, Hill's pitch bounced on the ground and Allred alertly fell on the ball at the one yard line. No gain on third down forced PG into a punting situation out of their own end zone and following a time out, Hill took the center snap and stepped out of the end zone for a two point safety to avoid a possible blocked punt and score. Following PG's free kick from the 20, Chambers intercepted Timp-view's final desperation pass and returned it 45 yards before being tackled. The Vikes finished with 296 yards total offense but only two of those yards came in the fourth quarter. Timpview totaled 230 yards with 147 of those coming in the final 12 minutes. Junior Varsity Football The electricians are still checking the Timpview scoreboard after Pleasant Grove's junior varsity demolished the Thunderbirds 63-- 0 Thursday afternoon. Against what the PG coaches called the most disorganized squad they could remember seeing, PG's offense and defense scored almost at will. The new head coach at Timpview has brought in five former BYU players who are not teaching in the school but are helping coach and the results so far have been less than good. Even when the PG coaches tried to slow down the point production, Timpview refused to cooperate by throwing interceptions and fumbling the ball repeatedly to the Vikings. Six different players scored for Pleasant Grove with Shane Phillips, Thayne Eyre and Todd Jasper scoring two touchdowns each. Phillips was also credited with a safety after tackling the Thunderbird quarterback in the end zone . Other Vikes who helped light up the visitor's side of the scoreboard were Shaun Story, Matt Norman and Corby Morris. One of Eyre's scores was an in-tercepted pass returned for a touchdown.
