The charge for noncredit courses or for auditing courses is the same as for credit classes. Noncredit courses taken by part time students will be assessed on the basis of the class hours involved. THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS ARE RELIGION CLASSES WHICH ARE IF TAKEN FOR NONCREDIT. IF STUDENTS INTEND TO CHANGE THEIR REGISTRA-TION, THEY MUST FOLLOW THESE FOUR STEPS: 1 . Obtain a change of registration form from the Office of Evening Classes, 120 HCEB. 2. To add a class, get the consent and signatures of the instructors involved. 3. To drop a class no signature is required. Bring the change form back to the Office of Evening Classes. It must be dated. 4. Pay a $3.00 fee per class to the Office of Evening Classes, 120 HCEB. After January 18, the drop fee is $10.00. STUDENTS MUST DROP OR DISCONTINUE THROUGH THE OFFICE OF EVENING CLASSES ONLY. REFUNDS ARE NOT GIVEN FOR DROPS OR DISCONTINUANCES THROUGH ANY OTHER OFFICE. REFUNDS 1. If a class is cancelled. 2. If a class is closed because of limitation on enrollment. 3. If the students present a withdrawal form (adddrop card) to the Office of Evening Classes as soon as they drop the class. BECAUSE REFUNDS ARE PRORATED ACCORDING TO THE DATE ON THE WITHDRAWAL FORM, IT IS TO THE STUDENT'S ADVANTAGE TO FILE THE FORM IM-MEDIATELY: NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER FEBRUARY 18. December 27 (M) Tuition deadline and last day to January 5 (W) First night of classes and first day of late registration. $5.00 late fee begins. First day change in registration permitted. January 1 1 (T) Last day to drop without a fee. January 18 (T) Last day for late registration and adding classes. February 8 (T) Last day to drop continuous classes for academic reasons. Last day a student can officially withdraw from the University without failing grades. February 18 (F) Midsemester (Second Block) Registration. February 21 (M) Presidents' Day Holiday. February 22 (T) Classes begin for Second Block. March 31 (TH) Last day on which a student may officially withdraw or drop classes for nonacademic emergencies. April 14 (TH) Last night of class instruction. April 22 (F) Commencement. Brigham Young University's chapter of ALPHA SIGMA LAMBDA, national honor society for students in continuing education, invites evening students to apply for member-ship affiliation. There are two qualifications for membership: 1. A G.P.A. of 3.5 minimum. 2. At least 30 semester hours completed in continuing education. Any student registering under false pretenses or who is in violation of University standards will forfeit fees and will receive no credit for classwork completed. SENIOR CITIZENS A special rate of $10 per class (to be taken for audit only and on a space available basis) is offered to persons fifty-fiv- e years of age and older. PARKING Parking permits are no longer required within the control-led area after 6:00 p.m. Some lots are available after 4:00 p.m. If you need to park on campus before 6:00 p.m., please contact the Traffic Office at 700 E. 1430 N. (East of the Carillon Bell Tower) or call (801) 378-390- SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS Students 21 years of age or over may qualify for an Even-ing Classes scholarship or grant-in-ai- d on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Application forms may be requested from the Evening Classes Office, 120 HCEB. The deadline for application is December 1. TUITION DEADLINE WILL BE DECEMBER 27. All evening students only, both e and part-tim- are encouraged to have their tuition payment at that time to finalize their registration and assure their places in the class for which they have registered. Confirmation forms will not be sent until tuition Is received. 1 DISCONTINUANCES There will be a $5.00 service charge for processing a discontinuance after the registration has been finalized. This includes discontinuances during the change of registration (adddrop) period. This includes staff, faculty and spouses. DEPARTMENTAL FEES Many art and design, clothing and textiles, industrial education, and music classes carry an additional fee for materials beyond the regular tuition. Please contact the necessary department concerning the fee. DROPPING AND ADDING CLASSES No changes in initial registration may be made until January 5. Classes may be added to a student's schedule through January 18. A fee of $3.00 per class is assessed for each class dropped beginning January 12. After January 18, there is a fee of $10.00 per class for dropping. The last day to drop a class or change it to audit is February 8. For emergencies, i.e., sickness, death in the family, change of work schedule, etc., students may withdraw from classes until March 31. PLEASE CONSULT THE BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY GENERAL CATALOG (1982-83)- . IT IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE THE APPLICABILITY OF ANY COURSE TO A MAJOR OR INTEREST, TO BE AWARE OF AND MEET COURSE PREREQUISITES AND TO PAY SPECIAL DEPARTMENTAL FEES AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. COUNSELING AND ADVISEMENT Counseling services are available to those continuing education students who wish to discuss educational, career, or personal concerns with an interested profes-sional person. That help is available during and after regular office hours. There is no charge for this service. Appointments may be made by calling (801) 378-287- REGISTRATION Registration is simple. Register by mail prior to December 22. Mail the form included in this schedule to 120 HCEB, Department of Evening Classes, BYU, Provo, Utah 84602. You may register in person at 120 HCEB from Novem-ber 27. The Office of Evening Classes is open from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Students save time and have a better choice of classes when they register early. Late registration begins on January 5. A $5.00 late fee is assessed at that time and an instructor's signature is required. ADMISSIONS INFORMATION Any student formally admitted to Brigham Young Univer-sity may enroll for Evening Classes. Students not formally accepted may enroll provided they meet the following requirements: 1. Will be nineteen years of age on or before the first day of classes. 2. If under 19, must have earned a minimum high school or college grade point average of 2.5 and have sub-mitted an application for enrollment, together with a high school or college transcript to the Department of Evening Classes. The deadline for applications submit-ted to our office is December 15. 3. Has not been suspended for any reason or been denied admittance to this or any other ln tltutlon of higher learning. |
